Lake now has a chance with a Junior team and some remaining starters from last years run.
Carlos Frank from Clear Brook tore his MCL this past week against Nimitz and they will have to find a new starting running back.
Avery Curry from Galveston Ball has an injured hip and was held to less than 90 yards rushing. Defense won the game and they will be even more banged up after playing Lamarque this week.
Pearland struggled passing and Whitaker did all the work with 262 yards rushing, the defense was tough so this was never in doubt. Still the favorite to win district.
Brazoswood lost to Dobie, Alvin lost to Elsik, Clear Creek lost to Friendswood and Clear Brook lost to Nimitz. Much improvement needed for any these to contend or even for these teams to win one pre-season game.
Lake has to only improve a little to get into playoffs. With the injured backs, this leaves the door wide open for Lake.
