Texas surely has a huge shot with Florida having 2 ranked opponents left and another ranked opponent in the SEC Championship. So if they lose they are out of the way. Louisville just lost and the OSU/Michigan will have one fall out. So Texas is still lookin at the BCS. I really think its theirs to lose because Florida has alot of tough ones left

Texas has a shot if these last 13 seconds go right..
We may be looking at a possible number 2 spot. depending HOW we win in the last couple games of the season. We could pass Flordia if we whoop a$$.

Beat K State by a ton...That's what the Horns need right now.
That and some help of course.
oh ill say my prayers to saint royal.
FLorida's SOS will diminish as the season goes on because they haven't played a ranked team since October 14th and their remaining opponents are 9-6.
Texas on the other hand still faces one ranked opponent and the rest of their schedule is 12-6.
The only thing going for Florida is a possible SEC championship win, and in that case I would either hope they lose or win against a 2 or 3 loss arkansas team(they play LSU and Tennessee still and a loss to both would still put them in the SEC championship, this would also help lower USC's SOS). Texas needs to face a ranked Nebraska team and for everyone they have beat already to keep winning...the exact opposite goes for Florida of course.
Either way I see a straight shot to the NC if Texas wins out.

Yall need us to beat Nebraska to help your SOS...
I also agree with the last statement if you win big.

I don't know about that. I can't decide which would help us more, ideally A&M beats Nebrasks, loses to UT, but Nebraska somehow ends up back in the top 25 for the Big XII championship game.
I don't see that possible so I don't really know who to root for this weekend.

Don't worry FSU will take down Florida, remember what I'm saying. X. Lee is going to dominate if he gets some decent play calls.
Also pray that Auburn doesn't get to the title game. Winner of the potential Florida vs. Auburn game will jump Texas....go Razorbacks!

Yea Arkansas has a VERY tough closing schedule with LSU and Tennessee(at least they are at home both). They can only afford a loss to ONE of those teams and still play in the SEC championship...

Well gents, the road map for Texas is looking pretty good. Texas just needs to keep winning and not go to sleep at the wheel. Hopefully they dont have a trap game with Kansas St this week. I do think they will be pumped up now seeing Louisville lose.
Hopefully Tx A&M can remain in the top #25 for the big Texas shootout game and Nebraska can get back into the top #25 picture for the Big-12 Title game.
But, things look really good for Texas if they just keep playing hard and "DONT GO TO SLEEP."
I would love to see a Texas vs Ohio St rematch for the National Title.:D

As much as I'd like to see Texas beat the snot out of tOSU and that unknown freshman QB who nobody except Mack Brown thought he'd have a chance to suceed lead them to the promised land, I don't see Florida losing again. FSU is not going to beat them. The SEC championship game will probably put them up against Auburn with one loss, whoever wins that will probably get in the BCS game.
Either way, whoever gets in will give tOSU a run for their money, unlike any of those Big Easy teams. Although, I can't help but pull for Rutgers, I really like Schiano as a coach and how he's turned that team around.

Yeah man...USC is def not in the picture at the moment. USC is .55 points behind Texas in the BCS. The only way they will close that gap is if Texas loses or USC blows out the rest of their schedule and Texas barely scrapes by. Louisville was by far the biggest barrier...now there are two things as Beaux said. We must pass Florida (very likely w/out them losing) and Ohio beating Michigan. There is a better chance of Mich winning than Texas not passing Florida.

Things are setting up well for Texas so far. Of course, the most important thing is winning out.
As much as Mark May would love for usc to be in the picture at the end, they just aren't. You can't lose to a team that lost to Boise State and hope to be in the national title game this year. It's just not going to happen unless everybody above them loses again and one of either Michigan or Ohio State loses twice.
Cal, the other team an ESPN talking head fell in love with tonight, is proving it's not always better to lose early, especially when you lose badly to a team that was, at the time, barely ranked. A win against usc isn't going to move them up enough to make them relevant.
I think Florida is the only team that might be standing in the way of Texas. The difference between Texas and Florida this week is razor thin, they're in a virtual tie. The difference is, Florida's computer ranking has peaked. Texas hasn't, and it's not just because Texas has a tougher remaining schedule. Texas is currently ranked 10th in the computers. There are teams such as Tennessee, Arkansas, Notre Dame, Cal and USC that are ranked above Texas in one or in some cases all of the computers, but they are ranked behind Florida in all the computers. Since Tennessee plays Arkansas and Cal and Notre Dame play USC that is a virtual gurantee that, if they keep winning, Texas moves up two spots in the computer polls while Florida remains the same. There are also teams such as Rutgers, Wisconsin and Boise State that are ranked above Texas in certain computers that could lose and move Texas up slightly while keeping Florida in the same spot.
I think the best things for Texas right now is for Auburn to keep winning since they're ranked between Texas and Florida in the human polls, though the vote gap is all that really matters. Arkansas to win enough to make the SEC title game and keep Auburn out. I'm not really worried about what Florida does until they move above Auburn in the human polls, or vastly close the vote gap between themselves and Texas. If that happens, then in my opinion Texas needs them to lose in order to make the title game. Until then I'm not too worried about a .0019 difference since the gap last week between Texas and Florida was .0229
There is still a month left of the regular season left and there is still a lot that can happen, but that's how I see it right now. I'm no expert though.

There is SO much misinformation on here, it's sickening.
Florida has 3 ranked opponents left including the SEC Championship.
Really? Since when? Florida's remaining schedule consists of South Carolina (Unranked), West Carolina (Div. I-AA) and Florida State (Unranked). The only ranked team they'll play is in the SEC CCG.
Here's something else nobody has mentioned. Texas has been killed in the computers because of their game with Sam Houston State, a Div. I-AA school. Sagarin has them ranked 165th in the nation. Here's some food for thought: West Carolina is ranked by Sagarin 215th in the nation. They are a 2-7 Div. I-AA team with losses to Wofford 35-7, Elon 37-19 and Liberty 21-0. One of their wins is over Div. II Chowan. The scores don't really mean anything other to convey to you the absolute suckiness of West Carolina.
Florida plays them on Nov. 18th. Just by taking the field that day, Florida's SOS will be hit HARD. In turn, so will the rest of the SEC. Not all computer polls use Div. I-AA games in their data, but a few do. And when it's going to be this close of a race, that's all that matters.
Also consider that Florida is ranked TWO spots behind Texas in both human polls. As long as Auburn wins out and Arkansas loses no more than 1 more game in the regular season, Texas won't have to worry about the SEC leaping them.
Michigan/OSU will be a big game as well, obviously. But don't fool yourself into thinking the loser won't drop. A late season loser ALWAYS drops in human polls. That's how it works. If Michigan loses, they will definitely drop below Texas. If OSU loses, they may very well (I believe LIKELY) fall below Texas even with their win over us. Many voters will say, "They were the best team and had to win ONE game AT HOME to punch their ticket. They didn't get it done. And Texas with Colt McCoy is an entirely different team now than 3 months ago."
That leaves the Pac10. USC has the best shot b/c of their remaining SOS boosters. Oregon, Cal, Notre Dame and UCLA. Double-edged sword though. The USC team I've seen this season will not win out against that schedule. Cal has a great shot as well. But they may be topped out in the computers already. A potential win may be offset in the computers by games against losers Arizona and Stanford. The best thing for Texas would be for Oregon to beat USC tomorrow, USC beat Cal (in LA) and Notre Dame (in LA).
On the other hand, Texas remaining games are against winning teams. Kansas State is 6-4 (5-4 when taking away their win over a Div. I-AA team), Texas A&M is 8-2 (7-2 minus win over The Citadel) and potentially a Nebraska team in the CCG. They will not encounter another losing team that will be a downer to their SOS. It will only go up from here in the computers for Texas.
Like I've been saying to people around me, Texas just needs to win out and let the chips fall where they may. So far, it's working out. Attrition in November crushes the dreams of many, but helps a few realize theirs.

this is from a BCS genius from Orangebloods.com his Handle is Porkey
USC: USC needs the least to get to the MNC, but their run is probably the most improbable, as they have to run the tables on Oregon, Cal, Notre Dame & UCLA, then have one of Auburn or Florida lose a game (which would happen if Auburn ended up in the SEC CG.
Texas: Texas simply needs (1) Michigan to drop at least 2-3 spots in the human polls, (2) Tennessee, LSU & Arkansas to beat up on each other (meaning, we don't want any of these teams to run the table, especially Arkie), (3) Arkie to not lose 2 of 3 games (which would put Auburn in the SEC CG), & (4) USC to lose a game. All of those things are probable, so Texas is in a good position.
Florida: Florida needs either (1) Auburn to lose AND Tennessee & LSU to run the tables, (2) Arkie to lose 2 games & then beat a 1-loss Auburn in the SEC CG or (3) Arkie to win out & then beat them in the SEC CG. If numbers 1 or 2 play out, Florida has the edge on the MNC. If #3 happens, then it's a horse race. But, as you can see, they're putting all their hope on Auburn to lose a game they shouldn't, Tennessee & LSU to win all their remaining games inspite of their poor play, & Arkansas to continue to overachieve mightily. Then, they have to go out and beat either the only team that's beaten them or beat a team that has beaten Auburn, Tennessee & LSU.
Auburn: Auburn has to have Arkansas lose 2 games & then they need to beat Florida in the SEC CG in order to have a chance. Without that, they're D-E-A-D!
Michigan (or tOSU): Michigan will still have an edge on us in most of the computer polls due to the Big 10 having a higher relative SOS than the Big XII. But, they'd need to fall no lower than 5th in the human polls to have a shot and no lower than 3rd to guarantee they hang onto #2.
After tonight's loss by Louisville, expect Florida, Auburn & USC to benefit slightly more than Texas. All 3 of those teams trail Louisville in every human & computer poll, while Texas is neck & neck w/ Louisville in both human polls & trails them in all but 1 computer poll. However, if we go out and simply dominate KSU, we should (especially if the other 3 teams struggle) establish ourselves as the solid #3 in the human polls. However, if USC has a good game against Oregon, they could gain on us in the human polls. Of course, I don't expect USC to run the tables w/ their schedule. One thing to keep in mind though, Rutgers is just barely behind USC, Auburn & Florida in the computer polls, so it's quite possible (actually probable) that they'll jump the 3 of them. But, since we trail them in 5 of the 6 computer polls, this doesn't damage us a bit. So, depending on Rutger's move in the computer polls, we actually could make a BIG leap in the polls, as we'd pass Louisville, but Louisville & Rutgers would simply swap spots ahead of our competitors in the computer polls.
This is getting interesting. If USC loses to Oregon and Florida struggles, I'll feel a lot better! USC is our biggest threat b/c the could pass us by simply winning out. Cross your fingers guys & girls!

A team that lost to Oregon State does not belong in the title game. Get it please.

by the way usc season is not over they run the tables they are most likely in.
How are they in?
You mean to tell me that you are stupid enough to think a 1 loss Texas team wouldn't make it over a 1 loss USC team THAT LOST TO OREGON ST.????
Go rent some DVD's,read the paper, browse the internet...anything. Because you don't know jacks..t about football man.

Ok I would like to charm in on a Texas topic this season. Before the non horn fans attack me realize I am amongst yall in that I am no horn fan. However It seems to me that I might have been the only non orange blodd to realize the impact Vince had on this program. Sure he left but his ability to take them over the so called "mental" edge of games has still remained. I think I said something similar to that in August. If Texas runs the table I think they get in. If Arkansas wins tommorow night then all they have left ot do is beat Miss St and Auburn is all but eliminated from a division champ;ionship and thus can not play for the SEC title. I think Arkansas beats Florida also. When Arky beats Florida they have no claim to a title game shot over Texas simply because they lost 100000-0 to USC to start the season.
Dont think I am rooting for Texas however if they run the table they deserve it as much and in my opinion more than anyone else to be playing for a championship come Jan.

USC is #6 in toughest schedule, Texas is #9 so that 3 spot difference isn't going to propel them into the title game.
I hope they lose to Oregon today, then beat Notre Dame AND California.

upsets happen son from the worst to the best. just because usc lost to a team you think is crapy. does not mean usc is overated. look at the talent they have. they are better than texas i gurantee you. texas wouldnt be nothin without that experienced defense returning.they were overated if anybody was at the beggining of the season.

Well just see what happens. But until USC passes Texas in the rankings. Im putting you on the "LIST OF IGNENT FOOLS"
(hey yall who am i : i thank that Texas is overated. They are week. USC has byfer da best players in the county. it will take a mercle for texas to win anyding.)
Come back with a better argument. Yours is weak. you have provided no such evidence that would support your claim to USC being better then texas.>SON!

Texas A&M isn't Texas' trap game, I don't see the Longhorns losing to this year's Aggie team at home.
What Texas fans DO need to worry about is the Big 12 Championship game. That game has not been kind to undefeated conference teams hoping to get into a BCS or NC game with one or two losses. Ask Nebraska, 1996, Kansas State, 1998, or Oklahoma, 2003.
Texas will probably be playing a Nebraska team that gave UT all it wanted earlier this season. Texas will have the better team on the field, but it is NEVER easy to beat the same team twice in one season. I wouldn't predict a Texas loss to the Huskers in the game, but I wouldn't be at all surprised if Nebraska got its first signature conference win under Callahan in that game.
Texas also needs to hope that whoever emerges as SEC champion doesn't do so in dominating fashion, and that Michigan beats tOSU. If I am a voter, I am going to be inclined to think that Texas already had their shot at tOSU this year, and might bump up the SEC champ to give someone else a shot.

Firebird the major difference will be...
Texas doesn't have to play Nebraska in Nome,Alaska-like conditions.
The snow and wind had a huge impact on that first game.
Don't get me wrong...Nebraska is a good team and will not just roll over.
But I think better weather conditions will help tremendously.

Hush 'yo mouth. It's gonna be sunny and 75 with no wind....
Unless Texas needs a 75 yarder to win it...then the wind will swell to Katrina like proportions and push it through the uprights.

You hoping that a record gets set? Record high for December 2 in KC is 70 degrees, back in 1956.
Average temperature is 36 degrees for Dec. 2......start praying, Beaux:D

wow...didn't know that.
36 is fine......but no snow and no wind. Dammit why couldn't this be a Alamodome or Reliant season?
With Auburn losing today that elminates a HUGE threat of Auburn making the SEC title game, beating Florida, and hopping UT. Now all we need is Florida to lose or win close to wrap this thing up.
