This season I would take Taylor Potts over McElroy and Riley.

I saw all three of them play yesterday and have no doubt that Potts stands head and shoulders above McElroy and Riley.

He has a great arm, runs great, great pocket poise, patient, makes great reads, and is very confident. But I think what stands out this year is his leadership ability.

Potts is the real deal.

Maybe we can meet up again with Abilene, and put your opinion to the test.....I would like the Dragons chances...

Sorry if you thought it sounded like I was putting someone down. All three are great QBs including McElroy and Riley. No telling what Riley will accomplish by the time he's a Senior that kid has unlimited potential.

Potts is a heck of a qb but if he takes a hit he'll start whining. Just ask the Cove fans

i saw abilene and slc last season and was not overly impressed with potts. but if leach at tech likes him, then's got to have something. as a red raider fan, i certainly hope he continues to improve each week and year from here on out!

Having seen both teams play their first 2005 season game in person, I would have to say they will both have to improve their play in order for another post-season meeting to take place. On this particular Saturday, I feel there are many teams that would have taken either one of them down the way they played. I think Potts did have a little more poise and leadership but that is to be expected for a young man making his 14th varsity start versus one making his first.

True...Cove fans know a LOT about whining. Just wait until after the Judson game.... :D :D .

Covefan05 if you are referring to the scrimmage you are WAY out of line. The format for the scrimmage was for early whistles to protect BOTH QB's. Your team benefited from that more than once. If you knew Taylor you would know that whining is simply not part of his makeup. But he does expect to be treated equally. The time you are referring to in the scrimmage the refs were very late with their whistle. If one QB is going to be protected the both need to be - simple as that.

I'm really not referring to the scrimmage, but if you want to get into that we will. If we came within ten feet of your qb they were blowing it dead and as soon as he took off they would blow it dead. Our qb, Brent Garner, who isn't afraid to take a hit from anyone, was past the line of scrimmage several times and was taken numerous hits even after the whistle

He took hits when he went past the line of scrimmage, but none after the whistle. So just what were you referring to if not the scrimmage? You didn't really want the ref's blowing a whistle if your QB decided to become a running back did you. The quick whistle was to be used in passing situations to protect both QBs, not in situations where he became a runner by passing the line of scrimmage.
I have nothing against CC, but do not be critical of a young man's character when you do not know him. His play is open for review and you be critical of that if you want, but not his character, which you attack when you call him a whiner.

Cove is lucky they don't have to face the Abilene High Eagles and Taylor Potts during the regular season schedule. They may face each other in the playoffs and I would have to go with the Eagles. Potts will dominate.
