Wow. I've always liked McCarney. He seems to do things the right way and he gets his players to do things the right way. That school seems like such a tough spot. Not a lot of quality athletes in Iowa and the best usually end up in Iowa and the rest ISU has to fight Nebraska and others for. Tough, tough gig.

One name getting thrown around for this job is former Texas assistant coach and current TE coach for the Denver Broncos, Tim Brewster. Brewster was a long time assistant for Mack working with him at UNC and then coming over and coaching the TEs at Texas for a while. Supposed to be a great up-and-coming coach.

A source just told me that a big-time candidate for the ISU job is Denver Broncos tight ends coach Tim Brewster. He has extensive college experience, including ultra-successful stints at North Carolina and Texas. Brewster was in the running for the job at Illinois, his alma mater, that went to Ron Zook. Also, Brewster would be a viable candidate for the Stanford job, if the school opts to dump Walt Harris.
