eh, i dont care anymore, NEVER have to go there again...
i have heard a rumor, that if they dont pass this, theres a good chance that keller may TRY to borrow a local stadium, for example Dragon Stadium, to have a game there when were not using it..

You know if the rumor happened then Keller ISD should be embarrssed about that asking people to share with them. I know Keller has a horrible stadium condition but still, Keller has a real nice resident area just like Tyler and both don't have the money to do with the school.

Why would anybody vote for it? It is going to cost the average Keller resident about 600 a year. I know if I lived in Keller I would be an adament Nay

I doubt any bond election would cost the average taxpayer $600 per year. Unless the houses average to be about $2,000,000, then it isn't mathmatically possible, or legally possible for that matter. The most you can tax for a bond is $.50 per $100 in taxable value.

That's a cap of $0.50 per $100 for all outstanding debt of a district, not just an individual bond. No way, those bonds add an additional $600 per year per taxpayer. But I do wish Keller would fix their stadium. They don't have to build a palace, just make the required structural repairs.

Keller ISD DOES have the tax base to have better facilities. I would venture to say that their "average" family income and home valuation is higher than Tyler's. The people there just don't want to spend the necessary money. It took the school board 3 elections before they presented a stadium proposal the people would accept. They wanted to build a 1st class facility like the Birdville and HEB districts have. In the first election they packaged the stadium with new schools etc. In the second election they put each item on the ballot seperately, but the stadium failed both times. Finally in desperation they proposed the present (read cheaper) stadium. It passed. The citizens living in the Keller ISD have gotten what they wanted---cheaper taxes and an inadequate stadium. It has always been my opinion that it only costs a little bit more to go first class.

They could have taken that money plus the money thay spent when they built it and had a very nice stadium. The 9.25M would have bought more at that time also. They could have had something like HEB's Pennington Field.

Hey, fantastic Kellerites! I am glad they got it done. 9 mill may be a waste, but it cannot hurt. And, it is not my 9 mill anyway!

It's time for Lowrey Field to be renovated in Lubbock. We got a nice scoreboard and Lowrey itself isn't bad...but compared to the area stadiums it is outdated (compared to Dick Bivins, Ratliff, Grande Stadium and Shotwell Stadium). Mainly new locker rooms (especially for playoff games--a doubleheader at Lowrey can be tough since there are only two locker rooms BUT 4 teams!), renovated restrooms (doors on the stalls would be nice), definitely some exterior work, water fountains--Lowrey needs some--there aren't any.
Amarillo passed a bond issue to get their stadium renovated for 5.4 million. It is one of the nicest HS stadiums I have ever been to.
Here are some pics of these stadiums. I would like to get some feedback on how bond issues work and if it is worth renovating the stadium. Amarillo has attracted more playoff games, UIL competitions and track meets. Shotwell stadium is undergoing some renovations--saw some of the results in person and Shotwell does look good and Ratliff is expected to get some renovations as well.

9.25 mil..
isnt like 50-70 percent of it going to build a pressbox...which will be "3 times as big" as the other one...something like that
ridiculus, with 9.25, you can probally build an OKAY stadium compared to what they got...Birdiville ISD stadium cost like what 12mil?

They currently have 5000 and are adding about 2500. They have a powerpoint presentation on the keller isd website. You can go there and view it if you have the microsoft office access program installed on your computer. It looks like maybe 500 or so seats added to the visitor side. You know how those stands are so high off the ground toward the field? Well, they are extending the seats lower. Most of the additional seating will be on the home side as they are extending the bleachers both north and south over there. So they will wind up with 15 yo stadium that seats 7500 serving 4 high schools.
Here is the link---click on "powerPoint Presentation" in the right hand column and then go down to slide 18
