I think that is a good SA top 10 list. Im not a big fan of Reagan (no offense) and I doubted them before they played, but they proved to me that they are no push-over this year. Also its nice to see alil love to TR.

Reagan is suppose to be a good team this year, like them or not, but I am having my doubts about Churchill. They were suppose to be behind Judson and SV, but I dont know after watching the film from last week. I dont know much about O connor. How have they done up to this point?

Don't worry, a lot of people doubt us, and I can't blame them. But my hat is off to you for your comming out and praising our team - thank you. I heard the Rough Rider's are gonna have a good squad this year.
O'Connor looked pretty good, but that can be due to the team they played - I dunno. But Churchill is riding a lot of it's hopes on Churchill, and you can't blame them, kid's fast and a smart player....gets it after his ol'man i'm guessing.

8. San Marco
9. Seguin
10. Roosevelt
Judson's #1 until they lose. SV will get their test this week to see if they are the real deal. O'Conner looks like they've reloaded and are ready to go. Clemens up with the Churchill lose and Marshall's lose of TE Johnny Moore. They won't be able to replace him and that will hurt them offensively. Churchill IMO is better then Marshall but they will have to prove it now due to the lose. Finuzzi is the real deal and he can beat teams by himself. They won't play that bad again this year. SM moves up with the win against Madison but I'm not convinced that win is that big. Madison is on the down side and will struggle to finish .500 for the year. It's amazing what a blowout does for your rankings. Seguin and Roosevelt benefit from it and jump into the top 10.

Marshall has a QB and has lost their D1 Tight end Johnny Moore for the year......

Other than SV test there will be several good tests this week:
Clemens vs. Roosevelt
Judson vs. Copperas Cove
Reagan vs. Warren?
Macarthur vs. Taft
Gridiron Gopher
08-28-2005, 11:17 PM
Mac still has to prove they belong. A win against Taft will back up the win against Clark. Warren and Reagan should be a good game.

The way Reagan played on Saturday, they MAY challenge Warren...so it may turn out to be a good game. Mac might've had it easy with Clark as they couldn't hold on to the ball very well but Taft will be a different story. Only advantage Mac may have is it's Taft's first game....course it can be a disadvantage as well because first games are normally played very well.

I agree with that. Clark might've been a fluke with all the turnovers, Taft should be a good test. Just like Warren will be a good test for Reagan.

Right now that is something nobody knows and really shouldn't be thinking about with only week 0 just behind us. Teams will have injuries, possible staff changes, and also will have lots of room for improvement over the next several weeks.

My guess would be 4 left after week 11 at this point but a lot of football to play between now and then to see if they even make it to week 11 :)

I actually like Mac's chances against Taft. Taft lost a good core of the offensive power. Those players were replaced with JV and any Freshman that were worthy of moving up. Mac's JV and Freshman teams destroyed Taft last year. Those same players with the Seniors from both teams will now go at it. Should be another good game.
Reaganrattler07
08-28-2005, 11:35 PM
If Taft returns a sizeable portion, the same sizable portion that beat them like 40-20 (correct me if i'm wrong there) then Taft should win. But I don't think we should count them out just like that however.
Gridiron Gopher
08-28-2005, 11:54 PM
I could be wrong, but they lost their QB, half their O-line and their #1 WR. That's a big hit. Mac has improved at O-line and RB. The D is much better then last years team.
Heck who knows what is going to happen, but we get them on our field and IMO Mac as more talent this year.

That may be pushing it a bit saying they have more talent BUT there a new teams getting new QB's that are turnign out to be even better.....Reagan's QB is far better than either one we had last year.

O'Conner ranked above Clemens? Don't they actually need to win one game against Judson, SV, or Clemens before they deserve that much praise? I am not knocking them one bit because they are one heck of a team for as young of a school that they are. But, come on, they need to earn top 3 respect on the field. One last thing, I guess after last night you can drop the Chargers down a little more, huh?

??????Why HaHa?????? They beat Southwest????
Anyway, I found the score elsewhere. This place bites. 40+ views after I asked and no response. Why? Nothing to do with longview lufkin slc, that's why. I've lerked here for a longgggggg time and it's always the same old smack about my dad can beat up your dad.....
So with week one down and some teams having playeed twice as many game as others heres San Antonio (in no particular order)
You have to include the 2-0 teams
SV
Clemens
San Marcos
Mac
Marshall
Reagan
You might include these (see below)
Judson
Warren
That leaves two spots. Based on the way things work here at 5a.com I cant include any team that hasnt won a game. Madison, out. Churchill, out. Highlands, Jefferson, Holmes, Jay, Taft. Out, out, out, out, out.
Given the weighting of a loss here at 5a.com, no team with a loss should be included, which would silly. Which for this place would be appropriate. The top 10 in SA has only 6 teams.
So, because I'm using this list elsewhere, I'll violate 5a.com etiquitte and include some LOSERS. Judson and Warren are include because 1) Judson has one lose to a state rated team and 2) Warren has one lose to an undeafeted SA team (this Warren rule will be used to fill the other spots).
Roosevelt is included under the Warren Rule. Lost to undefeated Clemens.
Clark is in under the same rule. Lost to undefeated Mac.
So to this point we have 10.
SV
Clemens
San Marcos
Mac
Marshall
Reagan
Judson
Warren
Roosevelt
Clark
We could leave it at that, but we would offend some people whose teams are not addressed above. Further analysis is required. 5a.com style.
If you include teams with a lose, you have to include all undefeated teams. OConnor, Del Rio and Lee are in. I repeat, Del Rio and Lee are in, Madison and Churchill are OUT.
Seguin lost to a 4A team. OUT. This is 5A.com!!!!!!!!!
Southwest lost to Lee and forced there inclusion above. OUT.
East Central beat Holmes and lost to Roosevelt and still no one cares about either one. East Central, out. Holmes, out.
So our revised top 6, no 10, is now 13. And I feel, I am getting the hang of this rating stuff, 5a style.
SV
Clemens
San Marcos
Mac
Marshall
Reagan
Judson
Warren
Roosevelt
Clark
O'Connor
Del Rio
Lee
Now, we cant have a top 10 in San Antonio with 13 teams on it. More analysis is required.
Del Rio aint that close to SA. Out they go.
San Marcos is a ways away too. OUT.
Lee on the list is just stupid. OUT.
Then there were 10....But, with Lee no longer included, Southwest is IN with a 1-1 record (see reason for initial exclusion above). Madison is in because their one loss was to San Marcos. All 0-1 teams must now be reexamined.
Highlands lost to Harlendale. NO WAY.
Jefferson lost to Medina Valley. NOPE
Jay lost to Kerrville. Holmes lost to East Central. NO. NO.
Taft lost to Mac. IN.
SV
Clemens
Mac
Marshall
Reagan
Judson
Warren
Roosevelt
Clark
O'Connor
Southwest
Madison
Taft
Darn, back to 13. Time for the final cut. Deep thought and insightful analysis, 5a.com style is really needed here, so follow me.
Given: The 265 rules SA.
Given: Reagan has about as much chance of a playoff berth as Madison does.
Given: I went to Madison.
Conclusion: Reagan is OUT.
Given: Have Southwest on the list is abbbout as dumb as putting Lee on it.
Conclusion: Southwest is out.
11 left, I cant stand the excitement, who will it be?
Given: I told you where I went to school.
Conclusion: I'm at 5a.com, so I will NEVER remove my school from the list. I went through a lot to get them on there.
Given: I hate Mac.
Conclusion: Surprise!!!!! Not being a true 5a.com'er I'm leaving them on the list.
Given: I'm getting bored with this, so Roosevelt is out.
Conclusion:
SV
Clemens
Mac
Marshall
Judson
Warren
Clark
O'Connor
Madison
Taft

I've got you figured out now. You're Greg Simmons aren't you? The absolute worst excuse ever for a sports broadcaster. His lists are a joke. His reporting is horrible. But, most of all, he's the biggest homer anywhere.
Those of us here in the SA area keep track of sports seasons by the wardrobe Greg wears. Black and silver cheerleader outfit means NBA. Blue and silver skirt and pom poms means NFL. The next time this guys asks a tough question during an interview will be the first time. But I guess KSAT enjoys having a joke of a sports department.
