As bad as the BCS is - they also do a horrid job at matching up the at-large games. Texas should play Florida should it play out that way to determine a pure No. 3. Last year Ohio State had no business beating up on pathetic Notre Dame. It's just plain stupid how they pit these teams up.

How about if you combined some bowl names:
The Chic Insight Bowl
the international independance bowl.

if they wanted it to work out with money they could, they would just have each "round" sponsored by the different bowl sponsors... and play all of them at neutral sites.. it would also bring a lot of fans( well with most teams.. but if the fans don't go to the home season games why would they travel to a bowl game? or a playoff game?)

Disagree with you there.... I don't want a playoff. Note I didn't say that I liked the BCS, but I don't want a playoff. It'll just transfer the controversy down another level.
I just like the fact that in the college game, every game counts.

I'm with you Firebird. I like having something to bi**h about every year. If anything I'd like to see a +1 game. Seed 1-4 and put the top 2 against each other next week. No matter what happens people will always complain. if you have a 4 team playoff the #5 team is shafted. 8 teams? what about #9? I think you get the point. Just look at the NCAA basketball tourney, 65 teams and all you hear about in the week leading up to it is "Why didn't State U get in? They are clearly better than Little Sisters of the Poor Polytechnic"
In college football every week counts. Having the +1 would help with making sure no one gets the shaft if there are 3 or 4 undefeated teams at the end of the year.

that's a myth. They know it, we know it. see my earlier post.
this time it isn't just about money, because I contend it would increase, but it's simply about control by the big conferences.

yes they do, and a great Texas team is going to be penalized because they didn't have an experienced QB in an early game.( just another example of why the bowl system sucks!)
make strength of schedule a factor again, and seed the top 16 teams, integrate the bowls into the playoffs. Cut the season to 13 weeks, by the first weekend in January, you have an on-the-field champion...
