Well the pack has a lot of work to do on offense. So much youth on the o-line and backfield.Lufkin could not score any points. This offense needs many more reps before they can live up to the 4th rankings. Defense was playing well as always.

It's just a scrimmage and defense wins championships. With good coaching ya'll probably be O.K. at seasons end.

Claybon, the qb, was out this scrimmage, and EJ Shankle has not played a scrimmage down.

I think Lufkin's O will be ok - sometime this year - just not sure when. They definitely are a work in progress and are nowhere near the other Top 10 teams. The fact that Humble shut LP out, even without Claybon, tells you nobody stepped up. Scrimmage or not, this team needs some O input in a hurry.

They will be okay just look at the year katy won state Lufkin beat them bad then they go ahead and beat SLC the last time that SLC got beat and won state. Tyler lee lost 3 games last year and won state so the Pack will be okay. The D will play hard and the O will score points you can count on that Lufkin will be fine.

I am still a bit surprised on how people talk about Tyler lee so much yep they won state but with 3 losses and if Longview or Lufkin in Division 1 last year then they win state with no losses so it is a win-loose situation.

that's 2 scrimmages that the O hasn't been there for Lufkin...i can understand the 1st one--first time in live action in a while--but, the 2nd--i don't know??? and against Humble???may need to hurry up and address those concerns--yall have to play for real on friday??...i'm sure that Outlaw will make some major adjustments this week and chew a little off, as well....

Claybon was still banged up from all of those green jerseys popping him ever other play last week----Shankle said that he was too good for scrimmage games----he only plays the "real" games----LOL....

Realizing we have a third world country sports editor around here (only provides info. he gets on a saucer) -- not sure what Jeremy's problem was. EJ had an infected arm that just won't heal.

With Jeremy, the O will be much better -- if he goes down, well, let's don't even think that.....

I'd like to see Humble do well this year with a new coach and system set up. They've always been a tough team but has been stumbling the last couple years.

Claybon took a helment to helment hit with the middle linebacker about three plays into the live game portion of the scrimmage. He stood on the sidelines with an ice bag on his neck for the rest of the day, he was held out for precautionary reasons.

Again not worried. Talk to me after the REAL games start!! If Lufkin is still scoring 0 td's then i will be very worried. I trust Outlaw and staff and I am not going by a few series in a scrimmage games with a 2nd string qb. Waste of time and energy to get concerned. Again, we will see the true panthers Friday night. I feel very very confident that Outlaw will have them ready. Go ahead, doubt them after 2 meaningless scrimmage games but i know i am not. It is for real this week!!

Proving again just how crack our sports staff is. The paper said he was held out of the scrimmage for "precautionary measures". Hoping Jeremy shakes it off - very good kid.

I'm in no way worried, but this is an offensive line that has allowed LP to gain ZERO rushing yards in two scrimmages. I think you either say - what's the point of scrimmaging - just keep practicing - or you say the offensive line is going to have to get a heck of a lot better real soon.

Seems to me it might make more sense to play a Zero week game, and take off the week before district or two weeks prior to district.

Do not get me wrong i am concerned about the o-line and the rb. I think Claybon will be fine with time and he will be better then Smallwood. I think the talent is there at the 0-line to be ok but i am almost wanting them to put up the freshmen stud rb trevon lewis now. I do not care if he is a freshmen. But i am jumping the gun!! Let's see what they do this week and then we will know how concerned we should be. There is not a question Lufkin has one of the best wr combos in the state but if you cannot get it to them it defeats the whole purpose. The Line has to give the qb time to throw and the qb has to be able to get it to them. Until then, the defense is going to have to be dominant as our offense gels.

I am not going to be concern unless we get to district and we still have the same problems and even then I feel we have too much talent NOT to put things together by mid season. I am an optimist and I know the record of the Lufkin coaching staff. Now, since I am only a fan and not a coach I will continue to support this team and leave the real work to the men who are getting paid to coach and know what they are doing. They don't need my two cents worth in this deal.

GO PACK!!!

Yeah but there is nothing wrong with giving your 2 cents on boards like these. That is what they are for. So fans can share their opinions about football. I too trust completlely in Outlaw and staff and i know they definitely know what they are doing.

I will be just as big as a fan if Lufkin goes 0-10 or 16-0. I am what you call a loyal fan. Yes i might voice my displeasure at times like all fans do but it does not mean i am still not a huge fan. I voice displeasure with members in my family sometimes but it does not mean i do not love them. You get the point. Again, I am not worried about Lufkin right now. I am just excited about the season starting Friday. You will see the real LP come friday and if not i am still going to give them 100 percent support. A fair weather fan i am not.

The pack will be just fine come friday and the D will step up and do well and I say let the O score atleast 14 points a game and the D will do the rest this a good team young but good and if the O line can just hold there blocks longer then good things will happen and again our D may have to play well for a week or so to let the O get better but with them practicing against each other then they are getting better. Come friday we will beat IKe and get ready for the next game.

GO PANTHERS

CANT WAIT TELL FRIDAY will be here at the house on the computer for the game in Sunny SanDiego.

AND OF COURSE RATHER WE GO 0-10 OR 16-0 I WILL ALWAYS,ALWAYS HAVE PANTHERS IN MY BLOOD.

I doubt P0808 will be able to save you a seat since he has season tickets and all of the General Admission seats are at the ends of home side. Your best shot at getting seats is to go to the visitors side and get there early. There are a whole lot of Lufkin fans that sit on that side. I know you are not a Lufkin fan but if you want to see the game that is probably your best option.

I am a LP fan. Wish nothing but the best of luck to you guys. Do you expect a big crowd for IKE? I just don't want to get there three hours early if I don't have to.

I don't expect a big crowd from Ike but who knows what they will bring this year. I do know that there will be alot of Lufkin fans on the visitor side and there is usually a line on that side by 5:30-6:00. Almost all of the people in line are Lufkin fans.

The Lview scrimmage isn't a good measuring stick for Kibble, our D was in the backfield most of the time kibble was in there. I think he had negative yards rushing. He looked really small. For some reason I thought he was bigger. Those freshmen running backs were fun to watch and have great potential, but let's face it very few freshmen are ready for the varsity level.

If I can find someone to come down with me I'll be there to root you guys on Friday.

Just don't beat any of us up for all of the smack talk we have been doing. :D
Just kidding. Hey we appreciate the support. Now please tell me what network is broadcasting Longview's game this Saturday. Everyone keeps saying Cox Communications but last time I checked that is just a cable provider so that is a vague answer. There are many channels on Cox so just tell me which network will be showing the game. If you give me a channel that will probably not be the same for us here in Lufkin so that is why I need to know the network.

I feel like i did back in my wild party days!! ;) As long as my computer and direct tv is up so i can watch college football this weekend i am good to go. Forget everything else!! My wife might shoot me this weekend. LOL

pack, knowing how iy must be around your household, she'll be too tired to put out that kind of effort. maybe there are some of your la neighbors who would enjoy seeing some good old pack football.

Very true!! LOL Moving with 4 kids ages 5, 3,3, and 5 months is difficult. Not to mention, we have more junk then the law allows. ;) If i do not get some sleep soon i might fall a sleep at the LP game. Especially if the offense struggles like it i did in the preaseason. ;) I am confident they will be just fine though i really really am. The 2002 team had almost zero returning on offense and defense also and they turned out just fine.

trust me it will end some day. we have been empty nesters for several weeks now. you can't believe how much free time you'll have. good luck on both predicaments. i too am expecting some offense in the near future out of the pack.
