There seems to be a lot of speculation about whether Lufkin will end up in D I or D II in the playoffs. Well, I just sat down and crunched the numbers and will break it down. Below is the projections based on the assumption that both Lufkin and The Woodlands secure victories against Conroe and Magnolia respectively next week.
11/04/06 Sat. Conroe wins:
Regardless of the Week 10 outcomes, District 15-5A will send the following teams to the playoffs:
DI- TWHS, Conroe
DII- Lufkin, College Park
11/04/06 Sat. Oak Ridge wins:
This is where the waters start to get muddy:
If OR beats Conroe but loses to College Park in wk. 10, there would be a 3 way tie between Conroe, OR and Magnolia for the final playoff spot. I do not know how the district determines the seeding in case of a tie.
If Oak Ridge beats both Conroe today and College Park next week, District 15-5A will send the following teams to the playoffs:
DI- Lufkin, TWHS
DII- College Park, Oak Ridge
Hope this kind of clears thing up.
