Yes the defense will require some attention. But I disagree with your statement Chaminade did not pass on lee. And yes I did attend the game. Might I suggest that the special teams unit could use some fine tuning.

Ill agree.

Im glad I didnt have to say it and Lee fans saw it also. Wasnt impressed that much at all.

Lee could've easily lost this game.

Good crowd on the Lee side for sure. Didnt seem to be in it at all times but defiantely a good size one.

ill agree special teams does need attention as well...i saw alot of missed blocks lmao...saw one player hit the ground like 4 different times without hitting anyone.

You know something. I'm sure that REL defense isnt the best in the State of Texas right now and probably wont be (just guessing). But, they played a pretty salty Hollywood-Chaminade team that no only has huge O-line, 2 very talented RB's, 2 good WR's and athletic QB (coaches son) we know how coaches son's can be at the QB spot. Plus, they were extremely well coached.

Tyler Lee's defense did pretty dang good against that Wing-T offense. I'm willling to bet that Chaminade could put 21 pts on just about anyone in Texas except maybe a few teams.

Also.. FS- Cuba is really going to help the chemistry of REL defense when he gets back on the field and he'll increase the level of play for everyone on the defense just by him being on the field.

texasfrog, i completely agree. this was the first varsity start for all but 3 people on defense that played tonight. They will be alright. They played a very good team tonight and didnt start until 10 pm. I dont know about you, but i doubt very seriously i play my best at 10. the defense made the plays when it counted. they were able to stop them when it was tied late in the game, which says a lot. they will be alright, especially when cuba gets back. don't jump on these young kids just yet.

this is probably better for another post, but how about that o-line last night. from what smoaky said, they were opening up great holes, and jason was just plowing through people. the passing game will be fine, and the offense has a chance to be better than last year.

The defense is going to be very good. I have no doubt about it. Especially when Cuba gets on the field.

The offense ??? All I can say is "WOW." They sound "on radio" like they are going to be very special. I can only imagine what they will be like in two weeks (if healthy).

The new kid OT- Kirkpatrick (6-3/285) sounded like he was basically a manchild. I'm only going by Smoaks radio broadcast but dang. THat boy sounded like he was just mowing them down and pulling and ect. His probably not going to be paying for his college education after this football season.

The rest of the O-line sounded like they were blowing open holes also. Chase Carlton (5-11/210) is basically a fullback playing OG. I can tell his just pulling and trapping and getting on the second level really fast.

Jason Williams (5-11/205).. man I had a feeling that kid was going to be special. I dont want to get to giddy after one game but DANG !! I have no doubt that by the end of September his going to have about 25 colleges to pick from. I think his got a little Cedric Benson in him. His size, explosive speed , vision and power. If he stays healthy, I bet he has 1,400 yds after 10 games. His as legit as legit gets.

also sounds like the FB-Nathan Tucker aint to shabby either. When teams start loading up and keying on Williams they're going to spring Tucker inside.

Midland Lee did that to perfection when Benson was there. Teams would load up on the edges and Midland Lee would pop that FB for a nice 7 yd gainer up the gut.

I'm not worried about the passing game at all. I dont think REL showed everything last night because of the power running game. But, when they had to pass it in the 4th QT it was there and they did well. I like the fact that Preston Hill is just a great athlete. He can run it. That game last night could of been over at halftime if that long run by Preston Hill didnt get called back for holding. ( Tyler Lee was up by 7 and driving right before halftime and Preston Hill ran the bootleg for a nice 18 or so yard gain to midfield and it got called back.) I have no doubt that Tyler Lee would of scored on that drive and gave them a 14 pt led at half. Oh well it didnt happen.

Tyler Lee's is extremely good and I think they will be making another run into the playoffs this season and if a few breaks and bounces go there way. They could end up in the "show" and playing for another "ring".

Be honest, jtate - never could make the team or what? You were at a different ballgame than I was! Sounds like the purple head of jealousy peeking out from your little hole!

Well it is good to know that Lee is at least a topic of discussion. I think my son might of been one of the kids that you reference that hit the ground four times without hitting anyone. You are right it was his first vasity start (he played basketball last year and they wouldn't let him play both, he choose BB) so he understands now what it means to play in the "big league". Don't underestimate him though, he is a quick study!!! Watch him grow and eat your heart out. LOL. I read this link and actually let him read it as well, it just gets him more fired. Thanks for the constructive feedback, it helps us learn.
