What is the most upset you have ever been after a game
I would say for me it would be either loosing to bryan two years ago or loosing to euless last year. The bryan game knocked us out of the playoffs, and then last year if we would have beat euless we would have gone to state. :(

These come to mind not in any order:
1. Texas-Texas Tech 2006
2. Miami-Dallas Game 6 of the NBA Finals
3. Judson-Madison 2003 when Streety ran up the score to the tune of 62-21 to let Gary Green score 44 points and 7 TD's.
Other disappointments were:
1. Houston-Notre Dame 1979 Cotton Bowl
2. Cowboys-49ers 1982 NFC Championship game
3. Houston-North Carolina State NCAA Men's Basketball Championship game
4. Stars-Oilers Game 7 of 1st Round in 1997

The year was 2004, my senior football season, a feeling similar to a knife going into your heart was the emotion I felt as we went for the 2 point conversion and the win in double overtime of the state quarterfinals against Clear Lake. We threw an INT and hearing the packed home side of Rice stadium erput and the eerie silence of the Sea of Red behind me as I watched their players and fans storm the field made me sick. I'm pretty sure that was one of the worst moments of my life. Having so much expectations and certainty of a state championship about a season, and having it all ripped away in a single second with no time for it to sink it and accept it really, was absolutely awful, especially knowing it'd be the last time I'd strap on the pads. (Luckily now I've decided to not make it my last go-round and will be transferring to Howard Payne University next semester to give it a shot at the NCAA d3 level)

I was pretty heartbroken after Carroll's 1998 4A semifinal loss to Stephenville. Even more so than after the Katy loss in 2003, perhaps because I got to attend more games that year and was a little more attached to that particular team/season, and/or perhaps because it was the first time I got to experience a potential title run by my high school team (the 3A championships were before my time).

In recent memory - the '02 loss to SLC in the semi's for Lufkin. Being up 30-14, watching several opportunities to put the game away slip away - particularly the 4th and 5 play where our lb had a pass go literally through both hands into a SLC receiver's hands on his back for a first down. SLC's win the next week was a formality against a young SV squad - denying Lufkin a rare back to back state championship.

2. 1993 Oilers-Bills, Losing a 35-3 lead in the NFL playoffs is unbelievable.
3. 1980 Oilers-Steelers AFC Championship, One bad call
4. 2002 Katy-Smithson Valley, Rangers ended a great playoff run
5. 2004 Katy-Clear Lake Reg Final, Hard to watch the fans on the field.

" the Catch" made me cry. easlily the worst game on me( I was 11).
As a player, my last game was a 42-7 playoff loss. I still remember that empty feeling today.
As a fan, the 49ers win over Dallas in the 94 NFC championship game. i still think Dallas should have won at least 4 straight Superbowls.

In 1998 my family and I where sitting outside of Katy High School waiting for my daughter to be dismissed. Then we hear an annoucment over the school P.A. system stating the Tigers had been disqualified from the state championship game. That hit us like a ton of bricks.

While there have been plenty to choose from lately, the most notable ones are as follows:
1987 Regional Finals - Cy Fair 28, North Mesquite 28 - Cy Fair advanced on third tie-breaker.
1995 Quarter Finals - Lake Highlands 14, North Mesquite 13 - Before OT, we were behind on the tie-breakers and had to go for two on our last TD. It was very close. Very, very close.
2002 First Round - Lufkin 34, North Mesquite 28 (OT) - Watched in disbelief as Lufkin fought to get the game into OT, and did. Then won.

1 game comes to my mind with only game with upset was in 2003 when #10 Tyler Lee vs #1 The Woodlands played in Division 1 Quarterfinals to decide whether who will go to Division 1 State Champion to compete with of course Unknown ranked Galena Park North Shore (I think they were #5 or #8 at that time). Seriously, this game was back and forth the whole game with 3 OT!!! The Woodlands made a 2 pts. conversion and then when we got the ball and we made the TD. Then, we had to do the 2 pts conversion or else lose, guess what..... we lost by an inch rush!!! It was a blow and the game was #1 The Woodlands 50 to #10 Tyler Lee 48. IT WAS ONE OF THE GREATEST GAME EVER! (As you can see in the 5ATexasFootball.com History too). Either team would go to Championship against North Shore in no doubt. So, if we would have won then it would have back to back state championship appearance after '04. Anyways, I am sure everyone knew about this game too.

The 2005 Cy Falls/Katy game. We went from unbelievable Nirvana to crashing like a bad heroin trip...all in the course of about 20 minutes. I have had many games hit me bad (that's what I get for being a sports fanatic) but none like that one - not even the 1986 Astros/Mets (I hate Dykstra too BTW and Eckstein reminds me of a cross between him, John Stockton and Danny Ainge:cool: ).

Had I been for Lufkin, I would have also picked that game. The football gods were smiling on us in the 2nd half. Even though I was disappointed that Merritt was tackled at the three on his 4Q INT return and didn't get the TD, it really was a fortunate event. Although Luna got stuffed three times, those plays ate up clock and time outs. The Hartley chip shot was really all we needed. With Terrence Parks' strong arm, all those athletes running around the field and a strong tailwind, I was happy that the Pack didn't have but a couple of shots at a big play.

Definately 8th Grade A Team Football for me. Either our 19-14 loss, or our 16-8 loss, back to back games the refs directly interfered with our chances to win or tie. We ended the season 3-4, instead of the either 4-3 or 4-2-1 we would have been. Had we been 4-2-1, we would have been able to play for the district championship. We weren't happy.
Seven games stand out ever so indelibly and might I add, miserably, in my mind:
#1 all-time: 1977 Lufkin destroyed our perfect season (9-1) 28-20 -I still remember it like it was yesterday . . . all I can say is Ronnie Blake...
#2 1975 Semifinals Loss to Odessa Permian 10-9 - can you say, 62 yard FG?
#3 1997 State Finals Loss to Katy 24-3… Nothing much I can say about that one other than, IT HURT LIKE HELL!!!
#4 Lufkin 2002 QF loss 24-21 Rose Stadium - that game literally left a bad taste in my mouth...
#5 Last year’s B-district debacle loss to SG 14-13. That loss temporarily destroyed my sense of reality
#6 1986 QF Loss to Plano 17-12 loss – in my opinion the best team didn’t advance.
#7 1980 District Loss to Texas High 10-8 – as the clock counted down TH’s band played “Another one bites the dust” – I still can’t stand that song to this day…

2003 Judson vs Madison Worst loss i've ever been apart of. 62-21
2004 Judson vs Westfield. Maybe not that big to some of the other Judson fans, but we were 13-0 and were playing solidly and Westfield beat us to end our perfect season and knock us out in the Semi's.
2006 Judson vs Churchill. GO FOR IT. PLEASE
2006 Judson vs SV. Potentially my last game at Judson Stadium...baring any playoff game there, that was my last one. And we lost. We should not have lost. I was mad because the team had no fire on the sideline even after huge plays. I was mad that everytime we made a huge play, one player on our team made a mental mistake and caused it to be called back.

1. 1984 - Cubs vs. Padres game 5 - Cubs magical ride ends a game short of the the WS. I cried, then punched my best friend for making fun of me.
2. 2002 - Longview 45 Garland 0 (first round playoff game). Garland's amazing 10-0 season comes crashing down, leading to the longest drive to Dallas in recorded history. I wanted a deer to cross the highway so I could crash into it.
3. 1995 - Klein 21 Garland 14 (D1 regional final). First time GHS had advanced three rounds deep since 1964. Owls lose when the Bearkats recover a fumbled punt late and punch it in for the winning score. There was a brawl after the game. Ugly and distasteful - awful feeling driving home from Cypress.
4. 1987 - Roosevelt 6 Garland 0 (first round playoff game). Garland has the ball inside the 15 three times and does not score. Tight end was open behind the line all night long and never thrown to. Frustrating.
5. 1975 - Scorpions 3 Superstars 2 - The Superstars were my 1st grade soccer team. We were the worst team in the league. The Scorpions were the best team. We were tied with less than a minute to go. Disaster.

Ok lets see for the games I've been to.
1) 2005 vs South Garland 14-13 Loss - Absolutely terrible. Longview should've blown these guys out as they showed at certain times during the game but they couldn't and didn't get it done. It was like a train crashing into my stomache three or four times. Knowing that all hope of a state championship while I was in school was down the drain.
2) 1998 vs Marshall 35-28 2OT Loss - Longview came into Lobo Stadium that night ranked #1 in the State...by the end of it the Mavs had pulled off the upset and defeated the Lobos in Longview. Marshall hasn't beaten Longview, in Lobo Stadium since.
3) 2003 vs Tyler Lee 18-14 Loss - Longview gave up a 14-3 lead at half time on homecoming against the Lee Red Raiders and district title hopes destoryed that night giving up a late TD and not being able to pull out the victory.
4) 2004 vs Lufkin 31-21 Loss - Longview, who had more than enough chances to build a 28-0 lead if not more in the early part of the game, laid down and fumbled *literally* the game away to the Lufkin Panthers and any hope of winning State that year. Ugh. That game still pisses me off seeing Lufkin not being able to stop our offense in the early part of the game.
5) 1997 vs Katy 24-3 Loss - No hustle. No emotion. No passion. No pride. No nothing. Our first chance in over 60 years to win a State Title and we come out playing like that?! What the heck.
6) 2005 vs Rockwall 37-35 Win - Seeing our guys blow a 29-12 lead (I think it was that, maybe a little less). You could just tell Rockwall wanted it more but somehow, Longview once again pulled out the victory despite maybe not deserving the victory.
7) 2003 - Dallas vs Anaheim - Game 6 - Western Conference Semi-Finals...Dallas scores to tie it 2-2 and then...a Marty Turco mistake gives Anaheim the puck with less than a minute to go and they put it into a wide open net and win the series...This was after the Stars manhandled the ducks in Game 5 4-1. Terrible. Just Terrible. I could go so much further into my hockey piss off days but then this post would turn into a hockey post and not a football post (I have about 9 or 10 of those moments. 1997, 1998, 2000, 2001, 2003, 2004, and especially 2006).

2001 SV's OT loss in the state finals vs. Denton Ryan.
I think this was so bad because it was SV's first true run since the Hill era turnaround started. Also, it was wet, cold, and it was a very long good game. Their last year in 4A too. From all the talk, SV was suppose to not get another shot for a long time in 5A. It was like a last chance feeling at the time because of this.

That was a TD!!! The Oilers should have been in the SB that year. I wish we had DVR then like we do now so I could super slow mo that one over and over until I'm half crazed:rolleyes: . Heck, we not only didn't have VCR's or DVR's but we only had 3 or 4 stations and only got 2 college games on Sat and 3 or 4 NFL on Sunday - how did we survive!!. I listened to a lot of UT games on the radio because they were never on - we are so spoiled these days.
I did go to the pep rally after this game and that was absolutely amazing that the dome would be completely packed like that AFTER a loss and with them going nowhere but home...that was the "kick the door in" pep rally. The charter buses just drove right onto the field with the team in them.

I have suffered after a lot of the same games (Houston pro teams) that have already been mentioned. Plus I'm a Baylor and Aldine fan. I guess you could say I'm a glutton for punishment.
The sickest, bitterest, and most dissapointed I've ever been after a game was the 1983 Region III quarterfinals. Yates 13, Aldine 10. Our kids played their hearts out and we literally had the game stolen from us.

What is the most upset you have ever been after a game
I would say for me it would be either loosing to bryan two years ago or loosing to euless last year. The bryan game knocked us out of the playoffs, and then last year if we would have beat euless we would have gone to state. :(
I would say...
The SV-SLC state championship game from 2004. Both teams played their hearts out...and when SV went up even late in the game, I thought they were finally going to get them a state title. Then SLC connects a series of long bombs and connects on a 39 yd field goal as time expired.
Or the SV-Roosevelt game from 2001, when both teams were 4A. Roosevelt ran the score up like 72-35...something like that. The thing that made me the maddest (coach Hill especially), was that both head coaches were brothers. Why coach Glen Hill (of Roosevelt) decided to be that unsportsmanlike and run the score up on his own brother is beyond me. Anyway, it was sweet justice when SV came back the next year and dismantled Roosevelt, who I believe hasn't beaten SV ever since.
Or the NBA finals from last year...That was just plain ridiculous. I was already disapointed that the Spurs didn't make it...they would've had a better chance against Miami. Spurs had a better defense, but Dallas' shooting percentage was higher when they played them. In any case, I was still rooting for the MAvs. Tough brake.
AND also the Superbowl from last year...don't even get me started about that one!!! But Pittsburg is getting their's this season!!!

1996 Aldine v. Humble game. DD Lewis running 50+ yards on 4th and 5 and scoring a TD to give Aldine a 14-10 advantage, just to see Humble come back to score and win 17-14. Still believe that pass hit the turf! Then hearing the announcer at Turner screaming "Doesn't it feel good to be a Wildcat" over the PA from that time until after Humble was named District Champion.
1998 Aldine v. Clear Brook in the Dome. We were down almost the entire game, and game back with time running out. Needed a 2 point conversion to tie, and we didn't make it. That announcer was the rudest I have ever heard, well besides the one above.
1991 Aldine v. SA Roosevelt. That was suppose to be our 3rd consecutive trip to the state game!
The most gleeful games I have been to, would be 1989 travelling to San Antonio to see Aldine whip Judson. It might have been cold, and I froze my butt off, but it was worth it.
And, Aldine v. Yates in 1996. #1 versus #2 and #2 prevailed. Of course we lost the next week, but it was still worth it to kick the crap out of them after the way they treated us earlier in the week when they were leaving the Dome after practice and they spat at us and called us names as we waited patiently outside.

These and many more like them are part of my memories. The 1996 Yates game was second only to the 1990 state championship game as a gleeful game for me. The coaches and fans who were at the 1983 Yates game kind of took this game personal, even though the kids on the field were only 3-5 years old when the 83 game took place. You would have to have been there. I would have to say 1989 Judson game ranks 3rd even though that was probably the greatest, closest to perfect game I have ever saw Aldine play. BTW it was SA Marshall in 1991.

BTW it was SA Marshall in 1991.
Marshall, Roosevelt, same thing. Someone from San Antonio :D . You might have known my cousins, they graduated from Aldine in 81...the year I was born, but that is besides the point. They were on the Vaqueras, but I guess it depends on when you graduated.

Dallas vs. San Francisco "The Catch" (I cried for about 3 hours and threw my nerf football at the wall over and over)
Celtics vs. Lakers "Baby Hook" Pack0808 and I both went out to his driveway and took turns throwing a basketball at the backboard as hard as we could.
2004 Lufkin vs. SLC The pass to Javorskie fell to the turf and I just walked out. I didn't wait on anybody...I just kept walking. I sat in the car punching the steering wheel.
2000 Red River Shootout I pushed a cooler full of ice (no beer) over my friend's balcony from 3 stories up.
Honorable mentions
Leon Lett in the snow on Thanksgiving
@ SFA Lp vs. Lake Highlands
This year during the Texas/Ohio St. game I stormed out swearing at everybody that was within earshot. Kicking empty beer cans and basically making a real *** of myself. I cussed out the cab driver just because....

I do not think this was 2001?? I do not recall SV losing a single game in 2001 until the state finals. Are you sure this was not 99 or 00?

I would say for me it would be either loosing to bryan two years ago or loosing to euless last year. The bryan game knocked us out of the playoffs, and then last year if we would have beat euless we would have gone to state. :(
loosing to the woodlands i the 2003 quarterfinals in triple overtime. that was tyler lee's most talented team. they probobly would have met north shore in the championship game.

The 4Q INT return for 49 yards was Morgan's. Merritt's INT was in the 3rd quarter.

State title game 2003. SLC vs Katy. SLC more yardage, however, our All-everything kicker misses a 35 yard fg AND has a punt blocked for a safety. SLC loses by 1 point. Turn that game around and SLC wins 4 straight state championships and goes 64-0 from 2002 - 2005. Add 9 more wins this year and SLC is 73-0 shooting for a 5th state title and an 80-0 record since joining 5A. Dang Katy. Revenge was sweet last year but 03 still brings pain.

It was the '99 '00 season Reggie McNeal was a Soph. Lufkin was playing Garland in the 2nd round at Tyler Rose Stadium. And Garland had some All-State RB(cant remember name some help from garland fans) and Lufkin defense led by LB's Shepherd, Slaton, Adams shut him down and they went to the pass to keep the game close. Garland went up by 4 with 2 minutes left Lufkin gets the ball moves down the field and about on Garland's 35yd line Reggie runs a naked bootleg and scores, But there is a flag on the field holding. Play doesnt count. Later on film it shows worst blown call ever. WR D. Jones Blocks GArland DB and he trips over own feet and falls. Ref looks back and sees the player on the ground and throws a flag. Ball game. You can ask Outlaw to this day and he will tell you the ref blew the call.

Well I guess we are all entitled to our own opinions, but I felt that NB did play better that night since Canyon was able to get inside the 20 a few times and the NB defense held Canyon scoreless regardless. As far as Del Valle goes, well take it from NB, they gave us a run for our money too. Del Valle erased a 19 pt deficit against us in the 4th quarter. Del Valle wont quit no matter what.

Most upset I have evert been after a game was in 5th grade. We were playing in a baseball tournament out at Arc Park in Ft Worth. Had we won we would have advanced to the state tournament being played in Houston that year. We were in the championship game and had a 4-0 lead going into the last inning. Our pitcher who was normally money started getting wild, he walked the first hitter he faced and on his next pitched threw one halfway up the backstop. The runner was able to advance from 1st to 3rd due to a meltdown by our catcher throwing it down to second. The next pitch our pitcher beaned the hell out of the hitter putting runners on 1st and 3rd. One pitch later and it was 4-3  still think that kid had balls of steel for actually staying in the box considering how wild our pitcher was. We then brought in our SS to pitch and simply put our pitcher at SS. They had runners on 1st and 3rd and with 1 out a routine ground ball was hit to our SS, instead of trying to turn two he was still rattled from his pitching performance he overthrew my *** at first. The runner from first ended up scoring the winning run and we lost 5-4. After the game I said some things to that pitcher/ss and ended up fighting him. When me and some of my old friends get together to this day we still talk about that. When I got home I got the beatdown from hell from my dad who was more pissed and embarassed than I had ever seen him.

If you read the topic of the thread...it said the most upset you have ever been after a game....I wasn't making excuses I was simply stating what happened. Had Katy not beat SLC the winning streak would be astronomical. Katy played exactly the game they had to play to win. They won. However, a measure of revenge was attained last year when SLC totally dominated Katy leading from start to finish. Always some know it all from Houston to screw things up.

i would have to say last years playoff game in the 2nd round, SGP vs. Plano. SGP had that game and they gave it away. They were going to go into half time with a 10 point lead with the score 17-7. Instead, we fumbled a kick return with 2 and a half minutes to go, and they would score on the insuing drive. THEN, we fumbled the ball again, this time on a run play trying to run down the clock with SGP leading 17-14. They scored again...making the score 21-17 at half time. They scored 2 td's under 2 and half minutes!!! Funny thing was, before those two fumbles we had grabbed major momentum with a kick return for a td to put us up 17-7. Then lost it all on the next 2 drives with the fumbles. So SGP would go on to get one more td and Plano would get a td and a fg. final 31-24. The way Plano got to 31....PISSED ME OFF!!!! The damn Plano reciever jumbed up to grap a pass in the endzone with 3 defenders around him jumping with him. and bam, 31-24. it was a good game, but it shouldnt have been that way. Those 2 fumbles cost us the game...it was a sad way to see our players end their final season together( 19 of our 22 starters were seniors; all of the defense was seniors). I know we could have made it all the way to SLC too just like Plano did. All of our players wanted to play SLC so bad! It was to bad they didnt get the chance. A few of them always told me, "in order to consider yourself the best, you have to beat the best. Or atleast give it your best shot knowing you put it all on the field." And some of them were disapointed in their season because they didnt feel like they played their best game against Plano...and they didnt. Oh well, it was an overall good season, it just could have been so much more.

sa holmes 30 judson 29 -1986 state quarterfinals
slc beating sv with last second fg in state 2004. i thought that year judson could have won in dII but the next best for me would have been sv winning and they came close.
