I tell you this. That team is very good and very well coached.
My hat goes off to them. They've been through alot the last few days with the Hurricane, travel delays, and a delay at the game. Everyone needs to remember those boys finished that game at 1:00am their body clock time.
They came to a very tough "venue" in Tyler and gave a very salty Tyler Lee team all they wanted and more. That game was basically a toss-up.
I live here in Broward Co about 15 minutes from the school and I'm their newest biggest fan. I'm going to try and go to all the Hollywood-Chaminade games that I can now this season.
100% no doubt that they are one of the top #5 teams in Florida.

My hat is off to Chaminade/Madonna also, they are VERY well coached team.
My son plays left tackle for REL and I was impressed by how well they overcame all obstacles to compete, and compete well against the D1 Texas state champions. I hope for them a successful season and after watching their level of play have no reason to foresee anything otherwise.

Tyler Lee is one more big win away from putting a bunch of Texas teams in the National Top 25 and 50 at the end of the year. We need wins over Colerain, Rockhurst, West Monroe, and Evangel and you'll see about 7 teams in there.

Florida has a good program, they had two national games yesterday, lost them both, Neese played Hoover from out of Alabama, and they looked really good until about the fourth quarter. Both of those teams took their game on the road.

It's pretty amazing to me that Tyler Lee had what one returning starter on offense? And like two or three on defense? That is what is crazy.
Defensive wise though I think it is their weak point........and they need to work on that. Offensively......they are going to be amazing.

Tyler Lee not haveing their stud FS- T. Cuba on defense hurt them some. Chaminade got a few really good runs that I dont think they would of gotten with Cuba on the field.
RB-Jason Williams is s "beast" though. That kid will probably have 15 "offers" by the end of the week. He was just insane.

Yeah, I just hope Waco can keep them in line next week. Sounds like we are going to have our hands full.

Few things stand out in my mind. First of all it was a great game.
Secondly, I still do not like the private schools competing with the public schools.
If REL was able to pull all the talent from around East Texas, they would be #1 ranked nationally in more years than not.
With that being said, I am glad REL won.
Next - - If REL had played Longview or Lufkin, Trinity- SLC etc, They would most likely have the one loss.
If Colerain had played CM...Well they still may have lost.

If Colerain doesn't solve their QB issue, there is a good shot they won't even make the playoffs. That's the big problem with the triple option - you need a smart QB with good timing, judgment and touch. Goodman had it last year for Colerain, and in spades. Put Goodman in with this year's Colerain team and you've got a national contender. But with the kid they have, they have a superb defense and a Porsche 911 offense with a VW Bug engine.

I just hope REL comes out of the Waco game healthy. I know Waco may not have one of their better top notch teams but they're always very physical and always have some solid athletes.
T.Cuba is suppose to start running tomorrow from what I've been told from a very good source in the REL program. It will be good to get him back at the FS spot and then move the FS (Tim Hayter) back to his corner spot.

Well it was only one game for Colerain against a top notch Ohio School (and they just barely lost). Colerain may not be the best in Ohio this year- But I am sure they are one of the best.
Same holds true for Tyler Lee- They are not the best in Texas, just one of the best.

Their is 100% no doubt that Colerain is one of Ohio's top #6 or so teams.
St. X might be the best team in Ohio this season and they just barely beat Colearin 7-0.
Its the same ole thing as always in my opinion. Their is about 6 or so really powerful teams in Ohio and then their is a drop off. The GCL teams ( St.X, Elder, Moeller, LaSalle) , Colerain, Glenville, St.Iggy and then it goes South really really fast in Ohio.
In Texas there is about 20 teams that can play down for down with those teams. I've been saying this forever and still strongly believe it more then ever.

Hey Conche. REL put together a pretty stout performance against a very very Salty Hollywood-Chaminade team. That HCM team has an O-line that is about (6-2/280) and has a couple of blue-chips, two college level "RB", one bigtime WR, and a very athletic QB (coaches son). Very good "balance" on the offense. They arent just a one deminsional running team. You have to respect their passing attack !!
HCM also has a pretty stiff defense. All of their DB's have bigtime offers from (ACC) and (Big-10) schools. LB's are about (6-0/200) and DL (6-1/210).
So, that HCM team is extrememly legit and very very very well coached.
REL beating them really showed me alot.
I still think the REL is going to load the box against Colerain with about 9 players in the box and just stunt and slant into the Colerain backfield and get in the QB's head. Sherrer will have about 5 kids on REL defense just "shadowing" him all night.
Just like I've been stating to you forever. If Colerain doesnt have a passing threat it could be a very long night. They're going to have to be able to pass it. Their is 100% no doubt about it.
REL offense sounds very good. The O-line sounds extremely fluid and is just going to get better over the next two weeks, QB-Hill sounds like his getting on track, WR, WR & TE are threats down the field, and RB-Jason williams is going to end up being a bigtime blue-chip prospect by December. He'll have his choice of BCS teams to pick from. Coach Owens is already saying he might be the best RB ever at Tyler Lee. "Trust me that's saying something."
I still bet that REL puts at least 28 pts on Colerain if not more. I just dont think you see the caliber of offensive in Ohio like we do in Texas. I honestly think its Night and day.
It will also be better when REL gets FS-T.Cuba back. He'll will really tighten up the defense. HCM made a few runs last night that wouldnt of happened with that kid on the field. Then the kid Hayter can go back to his CB spot and that will tighten up the defense even more.
This game is going to be fun !!! I just need to get ESPNU.
PS. The Hollywood-Chaminade coach gave an interview. He said that he gets alot of Big-10 coaches at his school recruiting. They tell him that they go to Florida and Texas because that's where all the "speed" is.

The good thing is that REL can Throw the ball - But when your RB goes for 260 - Ride it
It is really easy to Put on "Colerain Colored glasses" When they dominate subpar high school football teams and look unstoppable.

Yes Texas Offenses are Night and Day compared to other states -
The Southlake Carroll No huddle spread would score almost 100 against any power house in the nation that has not faced it.

.................
That's my point RidgePride. I've seen people post stats from other States trying to prove points for or against their teams.
I've always stated that you cant compare "Stats" from one State to other States when it comes to High school football. Why ?? Some States have alot more depth and higher caliber teams throughout their State.
I have no doubt that their is 6 to 7 very solid talented , well coached teams in Ohio. Just I feel that their is 15 to 20 very solid and well coached teams in Texas. I'm talking about top notch national level teams.
The sad thing is in Texas even those second tier teams are almost on par with the top echlon teams. In Texas you have the (#1 - #15) and those (#16-#30) are knocking on their door in Texas.
No State has the depth or high quality of teams like Texas. NONE !!!
We'll see how this Colerain game plays out. I think its going to be interesting. It still being played in Ohio is going to give Colerain some advantage points and probably worth a couple of "REF CALLS" in the game that go Colerain way.
I still think Tyler Lee puts at least 28 pts or more on Colerain. To me that's going to say alot "if that happens". Because I doubt anyone else in Ohio could do that to Colerain !
If Tyler Lee comes to Ohio and puts 28pts on Colerain !! Hmmmmmmm??????
All I can say is Tyler Lee sounds very very good on offense and when they get their FS-Cuba back on defense. They will even be better.

texasfrog, i thought i read something the other day that said they were going to put cuba at cb, and let hayter play the fs spot. i dont know if it is true, that is just what i thought i read. either way having him back will definatly help the defense out.
Congrats to HCM is definatly deserved. they played their hearts out last night and went through a really rough 3 days. i wish them the best of luck this season.

Shoot ya, I'm the newest & biggest Hollywood Chaminade fan there is. That is a very sound team and their coach is 1st Class all the way. He seems like a really top notch individual that loves sports but its all about character and sportsmanship first.
I could play for that guy anyday. His a Heck of a dang good coach to boot.
From what I understand. Cuba will be going back to FS (that's where he belongs) and the Hayter kid is going back to CB. He was slated to be the 1st team CB until Cuba went down. I believe they played with a few people back there and decided Hayter was the best fill in replacement for Cuba.
The FS position in Tyler Lee's defensive scheme is probably the #1 position because he honestly has to cover the entire field and come up fast on run support. FS- T. Cuba is basically an National Blue-chip at that spot.

What classification (based on Texas) would this team fit into. In other words, if they were a Texas team would they be 3A, 4A, or 5A.

5A all the way. Dont be fooled by the 2A florida label. They're a top notch Florida team (Florida top #5 overall regardless of class) and their a Private school.
Texas 5A.

Ya, they have right at 1,000 students. But, they're a Private school (we know what that means).
I live about 15 minutes from the Hollywood-chaminade. I'm sure its a very good school. But, they push athletics and you can see it by looking at the campus.
