Don't know what to expect from the HISD(5A) Schools this year...was expected more from Lamar this year. Who will turn it around and make a suprise run in the playoffs?

1. Westside Wolves 7-1 (5-0 district) projected finish 9-1
Key wins: Lamar Key Loses: Season opener to Texas City
4 wins came by 4 points or less

2. Lamar Redskins 6-2 (4-1 district) projected finish 8-2
Key wins: Brenham which was #1 in 4A at the time Key loses: Aldine and Westside
Not sure how to gauge Lamar...gave up leads late to Aldine and Westside. QB Woods one of Houston's best kept secrets

3. Madison Marlins 4-4 (3-2 district) projected finish 6-4
Key wins: Madison has beaten everyone they were SUPPOSED to play..4 wins have come against teams with a combined record of 4-28. Key loses:Played their best game in a 48-33 loss to Pearland.

4. Chavez Lobos 5-3 (4-1) projected finish 5-5
Key Wins:Really no key wins, the same as Madison unless you want to count a 59-33 win over St.Thomas Key loses: Channelview(2-6)
Not much to say about them...put they will back into the playoffs with 2 straight loses

Appears that 20-5A is set. 19-5A is not. But I think it will sort out this way:

1. Stratford 7-0
2. Eisenhower 5-2 (ranks #2 on strength of week 9 win over Aldine)
3. Aldine 5-2
4. MacArthur 4-3 (ranks #4 on strength of win over Memorial in week 6)
5. Memorial 4-3
6. Nimitz 2-5
7. Spring Woods 1-6
8. Northbrook 0-7

That would set up first round matchups as follows:

Div 1
Eisenhower vs. Lamar
Aldine vs. Westside

Div 2
Stratford vs. Chavez
MacArthur vs. Madison

I would give Lamar and Westside the edge in those games
Stratford should have an easy time with Chavez
MacArthur-Madison could be competitive.

20 stinks. They might win a game just because 19 isn't much better. I'll guarantee nobody from 20 gets out of Round 2.

I want to know if Sam Houston is going to score again. They have 7 points this year and are still giving up 51 a game. It's 51-1 on average right now.

For once I agree with you....I thought Lamar would shine this year...and 19 is just as bad which means that a bad team will be playing in the 2nd round of the playoffs....Stratford seems to be the real deal though.

They probably should just drop football altogether, just as Lee did.

When I saw Ike play I was immensely impressed with them, but they've obviously played poorly in other games that I did not see.

I might be the only person who thinks highly of them, but I do because they battled Stratford better and harder than anyone other than Cy Fair this year.

Actually, in terms of hitting, Ike hit us harder than Cy Fair hit us. We just had no answer for how to tackle McGuffie, otherwise I think we were physically pretty close to Cy Fair.

Ike, and to a lesser extent Aldine, played some pretty tough nondistrict teams that has weighted their record down and has taken them off the radar screen. I think they will do better than most expect against Lamar and Westside.

And regardless of what Lonny thinks, I think 20-5A is going to produce two quality playoff teams, both of them headed to Div 1. Obviously, it drops off dramatically beyond that.

Also, despite the lack of respect shown by this board for 19-5A overall, I think Aldine and Ike will acquit themselves well in the post-season. Anyone who overlooks them will regret it.

It's a good thing they don't. HISD didn't want another one of those Davislike losing streaks.

Sam Houston could challenge that streak at this rate. Lee actually had some good teams though.

Yeah, but most of 'em did over 20 yrs. ago. The magnet school program has really hurt that district.

From 89-92....the hung tough in a district with Waltrip,Lamar and Washington...I think HISD will make a come back....but it will be Westside, Lamar and Bellaire.

HISD isn't going to make any comebacks as long as Abe Saavedra is supt.

He could't give a flying flip about athletics, he's so political it's not even funny.

God i hope Stratford plays Chavez in the first round. It would be a matchup of 2 great offenses
