we beat eisenhower 30-21 in what was a very exciting game,our kicker sealed the win at the end of the game with a 40 something yard field goal

Okay, my two cents...

Good game, sloppy in a few places for sure.

Highlights for me...

Brant Scott on D-Line spent more time near the Ike QB than his own center did. Whomever was beatching about his "highlight film" being against JV only ought to ask the Ike QB what he thought. The person beatching should shut the heck up. Scott is the real deal.

The D overall was solid. Gave up a long pass and a long run or two of each. But overall, the D shut Ike down for the majority of the game.

Game started with Consol running back the opening kickoff. 2nd half started with Ike running back the opening kickoff.

The Consol had a rotation of 3 QB's to start the game. Different QB each series. Finally one of them seemed to click and he played the 2nd half. Consol did succeed in opening up the passing game as was a major goal this year. Consol O-Line did a great job, especially as they seemed to be giving up 50lbs per man.

It looked like the Ike LB's keyed on RB Palmer. He never really got seriously loose, but was pretty close on a number of occasions. All that keying on Palmer opened up the middle for passing. Consol made them pay for that.

It was 14-0 pretty fast in the first Quarter and probably should have been 21-0 or 28-0, but a fumble here, a missed pass there and Ike was hanging in the game.

For any of you band people out there, bands can be effective weapons. I was seriously disappointed that the Consol marching band could not figure out the concept of making the other teams life difficult. Ike had that down. Consol only had one false start because of it, but the Consol band was virtually non-existent during the 3rd Q when Ike was on O right in front of them. Band director needs to understand this is one of the reasons that they are there. I guess I'm biased, but a loud band can be a weapon.

Funny thing about the Ike band is that they often kept playing when their team was on O. So, the advantage was a bit neutralized.

Kicking game for Consol is incredible. 40+ yard FG to put the game out of reach. His punting was outstanding as well. With the exception of giving up that one kickoff return, Consol special teams won their battles.

30-21. Sloppy game at times, but you always take a win any time you can get it. Ike has serious team speed. Anyone facing them soon should beware. :cool:

Lufkin has faced them the last 5 years winning 4 in a row and the last 2 have been ugly with a capital U. Ike has great team speed but Lufkin has turbo super speed. ;) The Ike teams in the mid to late 90's and 00 and 01 were very very good but they have been struggling to compete with the big boys lately.

One question?? Does Consolidated a option running team like Ike?? I am thinking they are?? I always have heard that A&M consolidated has a strong running game with usually a strong defense. Our East Texas brother's Tyler Lee has played them a few times lately.

The offense is kinda like what Utah ran the last few years. Lots of motion and misdirection. They've got the typical option plays when needed but I'd not call them an option team.

Much more balanced effort this year.

Not this fast though-gold-medal outing by Donald Buckram (10.8) in the 100 in District 13-5A track meet as cove is the fatstest in District and noone else in 13-5A has been close for 2 years. :) So fast to you is not really fast to us. Go DAWGS!!!

Something else I'm enthused about is our district schedule...

7 games, 4 home, 2 away and 1 at Kyle Field (semi home game).

Bye week this week is good and bad. Gives us a chance to fix some things from today, but leaves us 9 games in 9 weeks, then hopefully playoffs.

Our only two district away games are Belton and Waco.

Cove/Consol on the next to last game in our house this year. that ought to be a doosie.

It's going to be a long season. I pray that all of y'all teams kids stay healthy this year.

10.8 is all he had to run to beat everyone in 13-5A. and 2nd and 3rd were from COVE football as well so were does that leave the rest of the district when it comes to speed??? And yes football speed and track speed are different but you get the point!!!

I was at the meet, cove wasnt 1,2,3 in the 100, buckram was the only person from cove to get in the top 3, i know they went 1-2 in the hurdles

That goal line stand at the end of the game nailed it down. You hit it. We let them stay in the game far too long. That's gotta change. I missed the Katy/consol game last year, but I hear that we came close to winning that, with some telling me that we had it won and lost it. That's too far back for me to remember the news reports. :) Too old I guess.

You had a great game man. Loved watching it. You spent a lot of time in that Quarterback's back pocket.

How many cheapshots did the IKE team dish out? Bad officiating in several of those shots. The first one during the first quarter was a good two seconds after the play was over.

Yea, they gave plenty of cheap shots but we gave some of our own as well, but yea the officials werent watching it very well, we just got done watching film from the game and lol there was def. some wide-open calls that should have been made, but Ike was just trying to get there spirits back up, even though it was a close game we still made sure we kept the upper-hand
