View Full Version : Clemens Defense Looks Tough!

Clemens defense only allowed 97 total yards last night to Waco. The run Defense was especially potent allowing only 31 yards on 22 attempts! The D-line looked very strong with a whole lot of speed behind them. The offense struggled last night but Waco also has a good defense (#98 is a hoss). If the offense can get the passing game going and keep from making stupid mistakes (penalties and turnovers) the rest of region 4 - 5a better look out! Our last year in 5a could certainly be a year as good or better than 2003. We will know more next week at this time after the Roosevelt game how good the defense really is.

That was a great way for the defense to start out the season. The bad news is that the offense looked every bit as bad as the defense looked good. I know you're expected to improve week to week as you approach the playoffs, but in all my seasons of Buffalo watching, this is far and away the absolute worst the offense has looked at the beginning of a season. Even Henry seemed to be playing with something less than full effort and concentration.
I give all the credit due to the Waco defense and their fine play. Last year's offense wasn't that great at the end of the year and Judson shut them down hard, as in no points and no first downs. This offense looks on it's way to earning negative points against Judson.
Seriously, unless there's some MAJOR improvement in ALL phases of the offense, this team is one and done in the playoffs regardless of the defense.

Last night was the worst offense i've seen Waco have in a long long time......they are installing some new things so I think that it will take awhile for them.
QB needs to improve..and the line.

I think that Ferrara will take care of the offense by mid-season. He has already shown that he is going to put the ball in the air more than we've seen in the last 23 years! He has all the players he needs to get the job done at every position. The QB has a good arm and mobility and receivers to do the job. The tight end (when we start to throw to him more) can catch anything thrown at him and the line and running backs are second to none. I know that it will come together by the playoffs. I know exactly what Judson did to them last year in the first round and so do the seniors on this team, and I beleive that it will make the difference! Give it a few weeks and have some faith!

What are your thoughts on Waco's defense? To me it looked like they have a whole lot of talent on that side of the ball (very quick)! #98 is no doubt a D-1 player!

Waco defense is always good...but I think this will be a better unit than the last 3 or 4 years.......98 Dontay Ward is already committed to Baylor. He joins a host of other Waco High Lions that have also gone to Baylor.
You will see a much improved team against Tyler Lee this coming Friday.
