St. Louis wins the world series in 5 games. Detroit did themselves in with errors. Especially by the pitchers. This is the Cardinals first World Series win since 1982.

Shove that in your can media. I told you the American league dominance bs was over blown. The Tigers dominated the Yankees and the A's.

Yep- sure seemed the Tigers would win easily. But, the Cards are the first team to take the title with 82 reg. season wins - they got hot when it counted.

That is all that matters. I just think it is funny because all they talked about his year was how horrible the NL was. I wonder how cowterd is going to cover his tracks in this one. He is never wrong.

The MVP is the Cardinal shortstop David Eckstein. He gets a brand new Corvette.

If I would want anyone to get the MVP it would be David Eckstein he is a ball player...

The question Leland will get tired of being asked for the next year:

With the rain delay giving your pitchers extra rest, why didn't you start Kenny Rogers in Game 5?

The sports media was asking this question as soon as Leyland named the rookie Verlander as the starter. When your back is against the wall you have to go with your best. (Pine-tar or no pine-tar)

And they will ask him if they ever do PFP

True, but us old farts still like to talk about it since we grew up on it.

Baseball is certainly a dieing sport.

What do you think is causing the attendance to be down and tv viewership to be low?

Could it be the steroid scandel or extremely high salaries to average players.

Good thing this sort of stuff doesn't happen in other professional sports or they might start dropping in attendance and tv viewership.

Yes I care and there is still plenty of "world" wide love for baseball. It is not as big as it once was in the US but it is not dying. Heck, Houston just broke their record for attendance 2 years in a row. There are several other examples.

Makes me want to PUKE!!!

Error happy Detroit must have been expecting the commisioner to hand the WS trophy to them. The Cardinals showed them they actually had to play to win the World Series instead of taking the word of baseball "experts". Plus St. Louis took FULL ADVANTAGE of those boneheaded errors by the Tigers. Made Detroit pay every time.

BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!

I'm a little bitter. Lubbock High was destroyed tonight.

Yes, pack08, your right. Baseball continues to set attendance records year after year and it is not a dying sport. The media is guilty as usual for promoting false information and passing it off as truth. The problem is that people never call the media out to back-up what they print, report, or say.

People will continue to go to the games for the atmosphere, etc., but the TV audience is going down since there are more "action" oriented sports on cable and satellite. I mean, us older guys can sit and watch a game, but these kids of today raised on video games and the inherrant instant satisfaction you get from them. I fear that as we go along, the game just moves too slow for theses kids, and the game will slowly die, probably not in my lifetime, but it will decline, I believe.

True that Owl, life has become very fast paced and baseball being a game of strategy that is not measured by a clock is much to slow for a large percentage of today's youth. However, as they age and slow down they may learn to appreciate the sport.

I hope you are wrong but you do make some great points. Heck am I that old? Yeah I guess 32 is getting up there. I love baseball! Played it my whole life until my mid 20's through college and now I am coaching my little kids. It is still the greatest sport to me (I love to watch it) even though I absolutely love football and like basketball. Baseball will always be huge in the "world" but maybe not in the US. It is unfortunate because it used to everything here.

But to tell you the truth if this ws was the Yankees vs the Cubs or something then you would have had record tv ratings IMO. Overall, people just did not find this matchup too appealing.

I'm 48, Pong came out when I was about 18 or so, so I certainly wasn't raised on video games.

I know a bunch of guys in their 30's who hate baseball. They say it is too slow. They also still play PS2 all the time too. It seems to me that guys in their 30's are the cusp of that age group that is leaving baseball to the rest of us.

Not this 30 year old and I grew up playing video games. I played video games after I was forced to come in from outside though. ;) I still play some ps2 but not that often at all. My kids have taken over both the ps2 systems.

Good points have been made already. The viewership is down on TV but baseball just set another attendance record this past year and will continue to do so.

As far as the kid stuff goes, it is true but I consider myself one of the lucky ones, you could say baseball was forced on me at a early early age and I am so thankfull it was. It still remains my favorite sport to watch because it is one of the best things to drink beer to. At 24 I consider baseball the best sport in america and I am lucky that I have quite a few friends my age who do too.

I just realized that Preston Wilson has a f'n World Series ring.
Got traded from the Astros and is now dancing and drenched in champagne.
I hope his ring finger falls off.

Cool avatar.

I don't know about the finger falling off but I ain't happy about that either.

Astros 2007!

But wait! Buck Showalter got fired from the Rangers. Doesn't that mean the Rangers win the WS title next year?

I know! When I saw him getting interviewed talking about the Cardinals explosive lineup where anybody could hurt them I wanted to puke. Of course he was talking about himself like he was a bit time hitter in the cardinal lineup also. He was horrible for the stros. I was glad for the NL and the NL central (even though I hate the cards) but definitely was not happy for Preston.
