Just got back from a great game, but before I get into what happened the final was 46-10 Trinity...

First things first... the Trinity O was flat out awesome... #5 Dimitri Nance and #25 Laderrick Handy were unstoppable... and Vittatoe has an accurate cannon!

The defense started off flat during the first series of each half, which are the only series DeSoto scored on (3 points in first half, touchdown second half)... after the first series the D tightened up and held desoto scoreless... IMO the secondary played awesome had a pick returned for a TD, and a couple of recovered fumbles...

The one area that Trinity needs alot of work is their extra-points... I think they missed 4 extra points mostly because of bad snaps or bad holds...

Trinity looked amazing;the O was great, the D was good for most of the game but had some bad plays here or there... If they can improve their D some more... get some help with special teams, they can make a great run like last season...

kt, i feel the same way about trinity. I saw them play twice last year against lee and knew they were the real deal. Knowing they had so many players back, i really felt like this could be there year. i think they made a statement tonight. It should be a good game in a few weeks when they take on Lee in Tyler.

Kind of scary because the scrimmage last week (Tyler Lee vs Desoto) was pretty much an even Tie.

But, sometimes scrimmage games arent real indicators. I hear the live play Quarter was pretty much REL.

yeah, and hopefully we will have Cuba and a healthy jacoby by then too.

I was at the game last night, and trust me, Trinity is a team to watch as the season goes on. I thought Longview had the best backfield trio in the state, but after last night, there's no doubt in my mind that Trinity's is better. Trinity will have to correct the kicking game, and jell on defense, but it looks like their offense will give any defense fits. If they continue to improve, this team could go a long way.

I hope Trinity gets their kicking game in order...............that alone can be the difference between a possible 14-0 record going into the state semis and 9-3 sitting at home.

I was wondering about what happened after I seen the score.............as far as Duncanville goes in Division 1 Region 1..........this scares me

They missed 4 extra point attempts but had one two point conversion... thats why the score is wierd haha

It was very apparent that Trinity won the off season conditioning program. While DeSoto looked flat and tired Trinity seemed fresh all night long. The Trojans are even better than i thought. In all fairness DeSoto looks young but they still have a lot of speed. The Eagles will get better as the season goes on but I was most impressed with Trinity!

Agreed... DeSoto had soo many injuries it wasnt funny... I think they had 4 or 5 players go down throughout the game... a couple looked kind of serious...
I remember seeing their QB go down late in the game, but I dont know if he came back into the game.... was he seriously hurt?

I left the game by that point but looking down the road I think Trinity and the winner of the Garland Tyler Lee game will battle for a spot in the state title game. Trinity is special and so are those 2 teams - They are the class of the big school division. I'd love to see Trinity's offense against that feroucious Garland d led by Mr. Antwine.

Say bhs06...hope you saw the game. Al I saw was Trinity marching down the field at will. The second and third strings also did well. The game could have been 53-10 but Trinity killed the last minute on the 10 yard line. The defentotally stopped Desoto. They had a few stumbles, but came alive when needed. Can't evaluate the punter because they did not need him. I am really looking forward to the rest of the year.
BHS06....your game should be a bashing.

Off campus lunch = 5atexasfootball.com message board posting at home during lunch :)

I attended the game. The Trojans running game was impressive, as each time they carried the ball they were not stopped until they reached the DeSoto secondary. But it also seemed as if DeSoto gave up. They played with no passion or confidence. This will not be the case against Midland Lee or Tyler Lee.

If they can run the ball like they did Friday, then they will have no need for passing. But Trinity's passing game is still a joke. 75 of the 110 yards Trevor Vittatoe got were on screens. Downfield passing, he was 2 of 5 for 35 yards and 2 dropped passes. #84 dropped a touchdown pass as did #40. #80 caught a diving catch in the end zone for the touchdown pass. #3 had an impressive catch as well for the other downfield completion. But nieither of the downfield completions were pretty.

They deserved team of the week though. The game could have been 75-10. The reason I thought they would not win is because of their defense(which still showed some soft spots with the penalties and big plays allowed), and their passing game. I did not think that their ground game would be that good so that is why I didn't think they would win. I think they will beat Midland Lee now, but Tyler Lee remains a question. They should easily roll through the first 3 games of their district play. We will cross that bridge when they play us when we get there though. We haven't played a game, and 6 weeks from now we will have an easier perspective on how that Week 7 game will go.

BHS06...I expected you to see things one way. Trinity did not have to use or show much passing if they can control the ground game. Trevor is a very accurate passer. That was witnessed last year and I do not think he lost it. Timing will improve and it will get better. The running game should dominate most games, which will open up the passing game because teams will still have to key on the running backs. Look for things to only get better. As almost everybody posted...Trinity is the one to watch this year. Lineweaver has a playbook to fit any situation he runs into. This year he has the players to fit the book. I also was dissappointed with the extra point kicking, but it looks like he has a very strong leg. I think the defense will improve every week. Midland Lee should be another victime of the running game and size of Trinity. Passing will beging to show more.

Trinity has been knocking on the door the past few seasons. I also think they could be ripe for a title this year.

I think as far as DFW goes, it's SLC, Garland and Trinity.

I would love to see all of Trinity's games this season, but I don't want to miss every Garland game ;)... I'll at least go see them this friday against Midland Lee, should be another great game... can't wait!

Most people who have been watching football for a while, and especially last season, knew that Trinity had the potential to be a great team. This bell fan, refuses to believe that Trinity might possibly field the best team to ever walk the halls of that school. He also knows nothing about Trevor Vittatoe, with the score like it was, and the running game producing like it did, he did not need to throw many balls down field, trust me, when the time comes, the passing game at Trinity will be just fine. Outside of Tyler Lee, I believe Trinity will cruise through the regular season.

Of course I am not going to have many good things to say about Trinity. A team that is 5 minutes away from where I play at, our biggest rival, a team I hate with a passion, has beaten us 8 years in a row, and most of all seem to run their mouths way to much whenever and wherever. I want them to be 6-0 when we play them, so the game will mean much more. They were 3-3 or something when we played them last year. Not only will that most likely cause the Trojans to come into the game a little big headed, but beating an undefeated team on a roll in my senior season will mean a lot. Many of you will think thats unrealistic but if you can't believe you can beat a team you will never will! You have to have confidence and believe in your team that you can take them on to win. Even if we go 9-1 and win the state championship, if we don't beat Trinity then the season is still not a complete success. If we go 1-9 and beat them only, the season will be a success.

Take the Yankees/Red Sox for example. Are you going to see them saying good things about each other?

The Red Sox/yankee comparison is not accurate when talking about Trinity/bell. The Red Sox and yankees win championships, Bell, well they are more like the Tampa Bay Devil Rays.

Ill make a few Trinity games this year, wish I could be there this friday, but ill be in Athens, Ga for the Boise State/Georgia game. Trinity has been close many times to winning a state title, I think this just could be the year for them.

BHS.06 has a typical LD Bell attitude. So far the only team they have beaten is their practice squad...WHAT A GAME!!! This should be a great year for Trinity. Believe me, Trevor did not lose anything in his passing game. Try covering two all-state running backs and a passing game. That will be more than teams will want. Guys, do you recall how many Trinity linemen were downfield blocking for the running game Friday? It was neat watching a team that was physically in great shape executing so well that early in the season. Maybe the mysterious passing game will be revealed this week. But the running game will probably wear out the defense first. You cannot hurry the quarterback with your tongue dragging the ground. It's called TEAMWORK bhs06....come to the game and see it in action

It is not a typical LD Bell sesponse, the kid as blinded by youthful optimism is entitled to believe in his team......HOWEVER THAT BEING SAID............Trinity will dominate the district and I expect South Grand Prarie, MacArthur and Irving high to battle for the clean up spots. Bell and Grand Prarie will play the last game of the season to see who stays at the bottom of the pile. It is an extremely tough district and Bell is another year away from fully understanding the new system. It's too bad for the Seniors, but the underclassmen should make the adjustment by next season.

I agree with you that Trinity could beat Longview because we have a very big chance to beat Longview at our stadium.

:) Having watched Trinity for the past 7 years I feel this 05 team is special. Watching this offensive backfield is worth the price of my season tickets. They have been special since all these kids played 7th grade. This is definitely a once in 7 or 8 year group of young men. Don't know where or how far we will go this year, but this should be a GOOD ONE! For you folks who come to watch us get there early so you see the Tongan Haka chant they do before kickoff. This is the first year they have done this and it even got my old but fired up! I read about us having kicking problems. We do , but the 10th grader we have kicking has a real powerful leg. The dadblame snaps were the reason he missed the kicks.
