I enjoyed every bit of it. That Trent Rios is really something special. Why couldn't you attend the game?

Glad to hear the Rangers won tonight. I did not go to SV but the school and the area were named after my great great grandfather. I was at the 2 state games with Carroll and have been heartbroken since that darn fg went through the uprights. The Rangers can make it back this year too and I want Carroll one more time!!!! I am driving down from Mesquite to watch them play Temple in Week 2.

Trent Rios is truly something special. After seeing the first game, the one thing that worries me is our pass defense. But I'm sure knowing Coach Hill, that'll be fixed very quickly.

Yeah Rios sure looked strong, and the only sophmore.SV`s pass defense will be just fine.RR Westwood is now running the no huddle, spread with one running back in the backfield for about 2 % of all the plays. The very first play of the game Rios went for about 60-70 yards for a TD.

The whole 1st half RR, did not have a running back, but for about 2 plays. One of those running plays went long, with every one in man to man.SV blocked the extra point. They pass 98% of the time. The 1st half started looking like a shoot out game.SV defense slowed RR down once it got to the red zone, and held RR to 3 first half fg`s.RR scored all their points in the 1st half.SV makes adjustments at the half, and RR doesnt score again.

It looks like Hill is gonna be a good QB.I couldnt believe how far,and with a tight spiral this kid throws.I`m not sure if he has small hands, but juggling the ball a bit,I`m hoping it was just the 1st game jitters. In the last 5 minutes,he threw a 45 yard,in the air strike to Beyers, with Beyers making the catch of the game,to the ten.But Hill bobbled the ball on 3rd down, and had to fall on it at the 2.RR held us to 1,and the game ended.

This was a good game for SV`s secondary to build from.No one not even SLC throws this much,so they should be fine.Agaisnt the pass.RR`s qb may not make it threw a full season, with the hits he was taken,With hardly any rb`s shielding him.

westwood's qb threw for over 340 yards, westwood should have won the game but since we are a young team first round jitters got the best of them, especially the o-line. we expect to se sv again in the playoffs

Are you serious? first of all i obviously see you dont know to much about highschool football because if we were to see each other in the playoffs it would be in the State Championship game because yall are region 2 and we are region 4 but i guess your just a confident WW supporter nothing wrong with that.

That happened several times last season. Other teams gained yards on SV but SV came out on top on the scoreboard- where it really counted.

Talked to some players today, and SV and RR were on the same frequency for the 1st half. SV realized it and swiched channels. The RR kids knew what SV were running and what D they were calling. Once they were in at the Half, the kids told the coach, and they figured it out. That is what 2 of the players told me today anyway.

How is it they could hear us but we could not hear them? I wonder if it happens more often than you hear about. There was a story last year up here about a person offering Cleburne Highs playbook to their opponents to sabotage the program. During the story Joey Florence the Denton Ryan coach said he knows a playoff opponent had their playbook several years back. For all he knows they could have been on the same radio frequency.

I have no idea, but if you look at the stats you can easily see that that was the case. It was not on purpose by any means. It probably happens more than we know. I know at the college level there are people that have a job to make sure this does not happen. It is one of those things that the kids told the coach at halftime. They realized that it was like the team knew what they were going to do. They looked into it and swiched channels and the second half changed. The stats show that as well. No big deal, just one of those things you have to pay attention to.

That's funny...I was pondering about the question as to if coaches use different play callings or whatever.

Its hard to believe kids sometimes, I figured that they didnt think they beat RR by enough points so they were telling me this as an excuse. These two players that I talked to however have nothing really to prove. After looking at the stats again, it may have some truth to it. They scored something like 12 in the first 3 in the second, and then 0 and 0 in the 3rd and 4th. Im going to ask some other people this weekend to see if there was any truth to this claim..

Oh, I was talking about football in general. If people used the same play callings or not and if they do, what do they change?

Yea, I just wanted to clear that up however, so people would not think the wrong thing about this issue. Some schools do use the same play calling, but some are way out there. Even if you could hear SLC, or Ennis call in their offensive plays, you would still have problems defending it. 5 wide, and a back running routes is hard to cover no matter what. Some coaches may run the exact same play, but call it in different. A basic example of this is a 28 sweep. Its the 2 back in the 8 hole, and its a sweep/toss. Some call this play in a very unique way, and you would not know what they were running even if you could hear it. However on defense its a different story. Most plays are called about the same, man to man, zone, or blitz in some form or fassion. I have been working on playbooks as a hobbie and for use later on. If I see a play that works I might put it in my book, but I dont know what the team that used it calls it, so I make a name that is easy for the kids to remember, but unique so if they talk to loud in the huddle the other team will not know what it is anyway (unless it is run twice)

Congrats Ranger fans. Hope you have a great season as SLC would love to meet you at the dance again. There is however a slim chance (very slim) that
SLC could go Division I this year. The moon and stars would have to align just right but you never know.

Same to you. Lots of football to be played, but it sure would be nice to get back there again. And if they did, I would want to play no other team than SLC, so hopefully if the stars and moon do align just right, and both make it, maybe SLC will not be D1 :D I have a feeling there are some teams gunning for both SLC and SV, so it may not be an easy road, not that is was last year either..

Region 1 was loaded last year. It won't be easy this year for the Dragons. But they looked pretty good against a decent Midland Lee team. Little Dodge really suprised me with his play.

How bout this. You played a hell of a game against a state ranked team. Your qb passed for 340 yards because yall throw the ball 50+ times a game. Yall should feel confident after a showing like that against SV with a first year coach. Now go get Westlake ;) .
