No major changes at the top of each district this week; however, there was some movement at the 3rd and 4th place positions as one would expect.
The brackets will be official three weeks from today.

That will come down to the final week when Wylie hosts Lake Highlands. Both Wylie and Lake Highlands have tough games coming up before that.
Berkner has a good shot at the 4th spot because of that, but need to beat Lake Highlands and Richardson. They close with Plano West. Berkner has a head to head tie break over Wylie, but are one game back in the standings right now so that's why they aren't in.

Lewisville wins two out of the next three (R.L. Turner, Creekview, and Flower Mound), and our name stays on that list, and we're back in the playoffs for the first time since 2001.

That will be decided in the final week when Jersey Village visits Strake Jesuit.
I hope something changes because I definitely do not want to see Lufkin in the 2nd round. Can anyone explain to me how the playoff brackets are set up? In a PM or post it on here. It would be very helpful thankyou.

In 4-5A, you'll need to switch Burleson & Mansfield Summit around. I think the Elks will be Summit in week ten for the district champoinship. This is despite ya'll & another site picking Burleson SEVENTH in the preseason guide- Ha, I guess everyone slips up now & then.:) It was obvious ya'll didn't have much info on Burleson before the season started. But respect is earned on the field.

17-5A what does strakes wins over springs and langham, but losses to cy falls and cy fair mean opposed to jersey villages losses to langham and cy-fair but had wins over cy creek and springsIt means they are both tied at 2 and 2 in district. J.V has the tougher schedule to finish out the regular season IMO. They have to play Ridge and Falls, and then Strake at Crusader stadium. Strake has to play Creek and Ridge, and then J.V. I don't think either team beats Ridge. J.V. IMO does not beat Fall. So that will be 2 more losses for them. Strake might get past Creek but not Ridge. Then they have home field against J.V. I think the Jesuits have the edge on J.V. to make the post season.

Coppell/SGP is an intriguing potential matchup. With that being said, I have yet to see a spread team do well against the SGP defense over the past 3 years. I don't see that changing. We eat spread offenses for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Just ask LD Bell.

Ok, I know this was probably a miss on the KT's part but I'm not going to stand for it. :) Madison should not be the 4th team from 265a since their record is 3-3-0 in district play and Mac's is 3-2-0. Mac has worked their butts off to get respect and they still get slapped in the face. What's up????

Annnnnnd our team should be coming out w/ it's big guns, once again right about ahhh I'd say that time. I'm looking forward to seeing them play a game like they did against the Woodz! They seem to be holding back just a tad... just a tad. Trying to avoid injuries I guess. I haven't been too, too impressed w/ these district games but they're bringing home the "W" and that's what counts! I think once the PO's come around they'll be really hype and ready for some serious competition!

Port Arthur Memorial should be in there instead of Baytown Lee. Lee has to beat Humble to make the playoffs but since you guys still have Humble ahead of them then there is no way Lee can make it in over PAM...unless you see PAM losing to an also-ran in the district.

Baytown Lee has Humble on the schedule, but they close with Atascosita and Channelview.
Memorial has to play both Humble and Beaumont West Brook.
Baytown Lee beat Kingwood 32-16 (+16) and lost to PAM by 27-26. Kingwood lost to BT Lee, but beat PAM 51-34.
BT Lee and Kingwood are both way ahead of PAM in a points tie break scenario if it comes down to that. Kingwood closes with Atascosita, Channelview and Baytown Sterling. They should win all three of those games.
PAM needs to beat both Humble and West Brook to get into the playoffs in my opinion. I believe BT Lee is capable of beating Humble at home this week. If they do that, they'll be in ahead of PAM by one game unless the Titans beat both Humble and West Brook.
If Lee loses to Humble, then PAM will be back in the bracket.

Just ran the numbers myself. If things go accordingly, Falls, Fair and Ridge are solidly in. Then for the #4 slot there will be 4 teams competing for it. This week's game between Creek and Strake will be pivotal for both teams and the Strake/JV final game will be crucial. The Creek/Langham game next week will be crucial for both those teams. In other words, it's 175A and we will not know who is in or out until the final game. keeps it fun all year long!

Sorry it this is a stupid question, but how exactly do these play-off's work? Does the winner of the D1 bracket meet the winner of the D2 bracket? It's not that easy. Your point is on target though. What we really have is 2 5a state champs. No question is stupid, especially if you're trying to learn something.
Alot of people say just play 1 more game, but really that wouldn't be fair. For example, Westfield played NShore in R3 D1 last year.(neither team made it to the big game) They also did not have to play Katy whom did make it to the big game. So you see how it's not fair to Katy to go when they didn't have to play either one of the other R3 powerhouses.
Keep asking questions. You'll fall in love with Highschool football just like the rest of us.
Oh, and by the way, Westfield is not in R3 this year. The UIL moved them to R2. I know its confusing, just stick around.;)
That is a good first post for you.:)

I agree with you... Channelview is plenty good enough to knock off Lee, Kingwood, or Westbrook. They have a group of very talented WR's and a spectacular Running back. Thier defense is alittle weak, but thier offense can put points up. If i were any of the last three school remaining on thier schedule i would take them seriously... They have Upset potential. I would have to say that Channel view has a 5% chance at beating Lee or Westbrook. But they are totally capable of handing Kingwood a painful lose... i wanna say 45% chance of winning that one.
PAM has alot of work to do, ive been rooting for them all the way through (just not when it comes time for Humble)... I think they are stacked with talent, But RT didnt really have enough time to install and mesh a Defense. If they get better then they are gonna give Humble a hell of a fight.

Hmmm. So the two brackets are independent of each other. That's very odd.
Just looking at it, it doesn't seem like one of the brackets is the "better" bracket. (i.e. It's not set up where every district winner and runner-up is sent to D1, while everyone else goes to D2). How do they decide which teams go to which bracket?

Just for kicks,
Katy Taylor will most likely end their playoff drought with a win over WINLESS morton ranch this week. No real sign of what division they will end up in, but none the less it takes the monkey off the back of a program that has come so very close each year to making the playoffs. I hope they go D2 so they dont have to rematch cy falls tho lol.

Not so fast. Flower Mound has improved leaps and bounds since the Grapevine game. Don't give Grapevine the easy win, or even call them the favorites. However, I'm sure Grapevine has gotten better, too. Flower Mound-Grapevine is a toss up.

If we played FM again we would shut them down. All they did was run the ball. We let up some yards with them running, but have improved drastically with our run defense. I think this game would be a blowout because we didnt run the ball much but when we did it was unstoppable.

for my and others edification, would you define unstoppable? i've got a sneaking suspicion it can and will and already has been stopped. there likely will be one more week of the unstoppable descriptor added to the running game for gvine. looks like the weather's going to be ok for the richland game.
