The backs are looking strong this year. I attended their Southwest scrimmage and they were unleashing havoc on them. Sure its just Southwest, but i think with the speed of schrock and rios will be a lot for teams to handle this year. Brehm is also a good addition to have catching passouts from the offset I or as a slot receiver. As far as Power running is concerned, Mckinney can get the job done. This will be an explosive season for them.
Give me your thoughts on this...

Just make sure they're not too overconfident.
I would like to see any team from 26-5A make it to the state....with one or two exceptions :D (No, SV is not one of them)

As for a power runner, I think Schrock is the ticket. He can run, and he will take the entire defense with him. I also hear that Rios may be put out as a WR from time to time. I dont think there are many DB's that can keep up with him. I just hope he can catch the ball.

From Watchign Last year it was more of a rotation of backs. David Gutierrez and Cody Mckinney Split Time at Tailback. Schrock was more of a fullback last year. This year with the addition of Rios, it looks like that it will be a rotation of rios, schrock, and mckinney. They mad Mckinney in the scrimmage more of a fullback to though, i guess its because he has abotu 20 pounds on the other SV backs. I am sure it will eb a rotation just like last year.

In the Texas Bowl Schrock looked pretty much a straight ahead runner. If he had moves I didn't see them.

He was the same last year when he got the ball. Thats why I like him so much as a RB. He is hard to take down, and with the straight ahead running, he drags people with him and can pick up a 1st down really easy. Instead of trying to get to the outside and losing 2 he bulls in and gains 6-7 on about every carry.

Rios is the pick of this litter. This guy has Clint Haney Jr. written all over him; probably better than Haney by the time he's a senior.
I love Shrock, but he'd be better suited at fullback. Put Rios at tailbakc and make McKinney your short yardage/3rd down back (McKinney can REALLY carry a pile!)
Rios is untouchable when he finds daylight. He'd probably be returning all punts too if a guy by the name of Andrew Sendejo did not already own that job.

I agree, just maybe not this year. They need to let him get playing time if they are in a blowout and let the others start. We need to see how he is going to do under pressure. I think he is better than Haney. He has the moves, and speed that Haney had, but has more size. I honestly cant wait to see what he does the next few years. I also like the Shrock/Rios setup. That gives opposing D's two great backs to worry about. As for Sendejo giving up his job to Rios, I dont think so. That kid can run some punts back! It will take some major big plays for Rios to take over Sendejo's A+ job returning punts. Also cant forget about McKinney. I guess 3rd down plays is the only place for him now. Its going to be very interesting as to what they do with them. It is also nice that SV finally has that choice to make!

Trent is a SO. He is not that tall, but he is big. 5'8-5'9 area, but close to 185. He was only 170 or so as a freshman. Rios is close to the 4.3 times in the 40 as well. Accourding to the coaches he is going to/ may already be, better than Haney. He is not all hype either, he had 6 carries for 115 last week. He is the only SO on the team, but they had no choice but to move him up. He is not going to start just yet, but he will get a lot of playing time. Shrock and Rios both in the backfield might be something special. Only time will tell.

hopefully not i thnk Sv needs to use there really good receivers...but they could be like judson in the since they want to get there running game going an bring the passing game along. but like i said i think Sv goes from a A team to a B team if they dont use there receivers.

I think SV could play a C team (save for a few district games) and make it to the state semis this year. I just don't see anyone projecting Division 2 that has the talent to challenge them in my opinion. Judson, Clemens and O'Connor will all be in Division 1 assuming they make it.

Ok, everything you said about rios was wrong. first of all hes 5'6" and 155 pounds, i know this because he tells me everyday about how he needs to gain more weight. he doesnt run a 4.3, he runs a 4.5 40, and he had 126 yards with 6 carries last week. AND HES NOT AS BIG AS HANEY!! you should know what your talking about before you start making comments. thank you, have a blessed day.

No, they are now able to use one to help the other. They are running the spread, but they also run two back formations. They now have the weapons to both pass and run very well. And of course the D is going to be good.

How would your source be alot better if i know the kid and have known him since he was born(hint-hint) and no he ran a 4.5 and i know he is 5"6 because we argue and compare every day who is taller and we are still the the same so I think its cool that you are trying to talk up a ranger football player but he doesnt need it he has already shown it on the field

Ok, I guess he lost weight. I was there when he was put on the scales this summer. Maybe it was water retintion. I dont think its cool trying to talk up a ranger football player. Someone asked, and I told them. I have never said Trent isnt small. His dad is little too, and was a very good football player. Trent benchs 295+ (this was the last I saw). I guess he is lifting double his weight.

Not a surprise here! SV's program is so deep and solid now that there is no rebuilding from one year to the next - it's simply reload getting clicking and let em' play! I've heard that the entire O-backfield looks really good this year. Might just be the difference from a last second field goal and the trophy! At least that is my hope. I didn't take my eyes of the TV set last year and was sick when that FG split the bars!

Either way he is going to be a really good running back. I will change my prior post, he is 5'5 130. As for the bench, and height. Makes no difference. You can be 5'0 and bench 400lbs, but if your weight is 350 its really not that big of a deal. I just know what I saw when he stood on the scales. I only know what I saw as he lifted the weights. But I change my stats, he is only 130

In response to the pflugerville game...
not as good of a showing as last week against westwood but still managed to play well. Rios made a great catch between 2 defenders. Next series, Mckinney led the drive pounding it into the endzone to put the score at 28-14 midway through the 4th pretty much sealing up the victory.
The 3 backs... Schrock, rios, and mckinney had a difficult time against these panthers but it looked like to me the holes were just not there like last week. we'll need to fix those as i am sure we will behind coach hill. Nevertheless though the schrock, rios, mckinney 3 headed monster is looking good for the rest of this year.
thoughts anyone?

This year I think we have the best backfield since the one-two punch back in '01 with Clint Haney and Mark Mecke. Rios is our best back, but Shrock will get more playing time. We're in good hands with either one.
zippy

Only this year we can put 2/3 in at one time. The Haney/Mecke era was an either/or situation. I really wish they would line up Fuller/Beyers/Rios wide with McKinney and Schrock in the backfield. After that catch Rios made between the two defenders, I think he would make a good WR. They can put him in at TB on some plays too, just to mess with the defense. They didnt break away for any big runs Friday, but they pounded their way for yards, and TD's, and thats really all you can ask of them.

I dont care how good Rios is, I dont see Hill giving him a ton of playing time early on. However if Blake does not continue to be as much of an asset to the team, then Hill might play Rios more. As of right now it should be 1/3 Rios to 2/3 Schrock/McKinney. Next year Rios will have 100% playing time.

Still deosn't change the fact that Trent is destined to be the best RB in SV's history.

Yea it is his brother, but I was at the two-a-days and saw the weight when he was weighed. I also have stood next to him, and judged his height accourding to mine. I am 6', and my sister is 5'6, yet Rios was taller than my sister by a couple of inches. I dont know why he is saying this stuff. He is now saying Schrock is hurt, yet he was fine after the game and on Saturday. I also know for a fact that his BP is close to 300lbs, cause I was amazed by it. He was 5'8" 160 as a freshman, and has put on weight the past few months. You can go here to see that for yourself. This was all done this summer and Hill does not make his players seem larger than they are. Most of these have not been updated since the kid first made varsity. They have other things to work on.
http://www.svabc.com./Sports/football.htm
either way, I am done argueing about it, whoever this kid is, he has said a couple of things that are not true. Like I said, if you want to believe that Rios is 5'6 150, and can only bench 175 thats fine with me, I have no reason to hype him up, just look at him up close at the next Rangers game.

Man,that is`nt good news!Blake is one of our leaders, and really good all around players.I was wondering if he was gimpy in the 4th quarter against p-ville.Cody carried the load, and did a good job running the clock, and moving the chains. As long as Cody, and Trent can stay healthy while Blake is healing,I think we`ll be in good hands.
I`d have to admit it would be interesting to see what Trent could do with 20 carries in a game. One thing is true,if he has the heart that you (Trey) have,SV is in good hands for the next 3 years at Tail back.

aight, i'm gonna set the record straight on most of this SV backs thing here.....McKinney hurt his ankle in the game on friday night against pflugerville, its not a serious injury but we wont be 100% nor did he practice today. Shrock has a lacerated kidney from the pflugerville game too. Doctors say he could be out for the next 6 weeks, but he's going back to check on that. So that leaves Brehm and Rios, and a few other running backs SV keeps on hand cuz they are so deep in every spot on the field. Chances are Rios will be starting this week's game against Temple if McKinney cant get back in pads by tomorrow. Rios can handle the job no questions asked, and with the protection the o-line has been giving the last few games and the passing game, SV wont have any problems. Another thing, I know Haney. About the only thing Rios and Haney have in common is that they are both amazing to watch. Rios is about 5'6 165 lbs (and thats giving some credit) and can press about 260 lbs, again givin some credit. He is very strong for his size in his upper body. He has some amazing cuts and an incredibly low center of gravity, about the only way to tackle him is to take his feet off the ground. maybe this can stop some of the childish bickering going on in this particular forum.

He has some amazing cuts and an incredibly low center of gravity, about the only way to tackle him is to take his feet off the ground. maybe this can stop some of the childish bickering going on in this particular forum.
finally someone who knows what they are talking about thank you

Yea, just a bit too much info given out. Great job! I honestly cant believe both of you guys are fellow SV football players. I dont know if it was just the year that I was there that there were problem because of these boards, but did you two not have anything happen? When I was there we had a kid get on these doing much of what you just did Graham Davis #51, and they got into a bit of trouble with the coaches. You might think Temple is going to be a cakewalk, but there not. Now you just let them know information that would not have been known until game time. Good Job. You would think you would catch on, when people say they are not hurt, but you just keep it up. coolestkidever, wow, didnt even catch on with the PM did you. I could see this type of stuff from fans, but not past and PRESENT players. Do you not know that Temple coaches, as well as any other 5A coach in the state reads these boards daily? I would be willing to bet that #51 will soon figure that out. Great job fellas. This stuff should not be on the message boards..

At least wait until other teams realize this info before posting it.
