I would be pleased if it ended like this. Winner of Clark-Southwest in the second round... not a bad setup.

OUCH! The new playoff brackets looks like Pearland is out of the running.

They have a lot of work to do in order to get back in the thing at 0-2 in district right now.

I like us better in Division I, at least as far as the projected bracket for Region II goes. I think we could play with most of those teams, if not all of them. We need to beat Mesquite this week to get a step in that direction. A win over Mesquite would almost guarantee us Division I if we make the playoffs unless Mesquite gets in too. A loss could be devastating to our season, I'm afraid.

This projection has Region 1 with the greatest imbalance between the comparative strength of their D1 and D2 teams of any region. 11 D1 teams are ranked as first or second in their districts with only 5 D2 teams ranked as high. Cedar Hill, as a D2 rep, should like this scenario.

San Marcos still in the first round... We play them so much... Coach Hill probably knows how to run the Wing T or Wishbone or whatever they run...

Region 3 is the same way although it could be more balanced if West Brook proves to be one of the better teams in the region. We'll find out in the last part of district since they have a backloaded schedule.

Region 4 is evenly balanced in my opinion.

Region 2 is the only one that's clearly stronger in Division 2 right now.

Thus the reason NMHS likes his guys in the D1 bracket.:)

Hey, I'll take any bracket after a 3 yr drought. :)

It wouldn't get too ugly until the semis the way it stands, but there would probably be a monumental task waiting for the team good/lucky enough to get there.

Seguin can beat Judson, Westlake can beat Madison. Both of those teams might go home in the first round. And in my opinion KT, Reg 4 D1 is a lot stronger than D2, with the exception of Smithson Valley.

Simple, step on the football field and out play them. Seguin has been improving, too.

Not to mention that when Judson gets into the playoffs, they are a totally different team. They play at a much higher level then they do in the regular season. Their coaches have their players thinking correctly every year come playoff time...and thats taking it one game at a time. Judson is one of the most historic programs in Texas playoff history, and they know how to win in November and December.

Los Fresnos should get by round 1(vs. Edinburg) and round 2 (winner of Laredo Alex and La Joya) pretty easily..this year with the team they have.

SLC?

As much as we would love to be in the state title game with SLC, we know that it would be VERY difficult. lol

FWIW, my humble prediction for Regional Champs are:
Division I
Region I - Trinity/SLC winner *?
RegionII- Spring Westfield
Region III - North Shore *?
Region IV - Converse Judson

Division II
Region I - Cedar Hill
Region II - Lufkin *?
Region III- Katy *?
Region IV - Smithson Valley

*?Advance to Semis????
If this happens, It will be a toss up from Regional to Champs.
This is all in fun so don't get on my case too bad.

Does anyone think the 9-5A picks will be different at the end of the year. And, could any of those teams be front runners for a run at the state title in either of the divisions

This is just speculation but the Cedar Hill team is reminding me alot of the Garland teams that had all the athletes and were always ranked high but would always get beat in the playoffs pretty early...

With Kingwood beating Port Arthur Memorial, the Mustangs have a much easier road than PAM. Memorial pretty much has to beat Baytown Lee this weekend and I don't see that happening. If Humble and West Brook take care of business, that leaves PAM on the sidelines come playoff time.

Judson wins playoff games, Seguin doesn't. Rackley wins playoff games, Carson doesn't.

If Seguin had a lot more talent than Judson, you could argue about picking the Matadors, but since they don't, you have to give the advantage to Judson.

I don't know how Trinity/SLC plays out, but I'll say SLC over Trinity over Cedar Hill if any of them play each other and the remaining team gets the other bid. ACM over Westfield. Cy Fair over North Shore. I agree on the rest.

judson gets out of the region by default.. i mean.. you cant beat churchill...you cant beat leander...and probably wont beat SV(not that it matters anyway).. and you still come out of your region? wow....

I don't think the 24-5A PO picture is clear just yet and with Clear Creek all banged up and losing to Brazoswood, I believe they will falter this week against the Oilers. P'land has has two weeks to prepare and heal up and Creek is patching up their D. I think it will be Lake, B'wood, Pearland and Ball if Oilers turn it around this week. Last slot probably won't be known until the last game of the season in 24-5A (Ball vs. Creek).

From where I have them picked, that would be the Region Champs. Then the Semis would be Region I winners vs Region II winners and Region III winners vs Region IV winners. From there, the winners would go to State Finals.

I do not think that will be the case this year. these boys have that bad taste in their mouths(playoffs from last year), and they have handled a little adversity (Desoto a couple of weeks ago). they are a FAMILY, and i for one will not doubt them

Looking at those potential matchups I say the DFW area round could be very interesting:

Carroll vs. Trinity
Coppell vs. South Grand Prairie
Flower Mound vs. Dallas Jesuit
Cedar Hill vs. Hebron

3 of those 4 matchups would be really good(Exception of FM/DJ, neither team is quite there yet). One can hope, right?

yeah as for Los Fresnos I can see tem in the third round. . .but against Judson it would be a very difficult win for LF to pull out. But well see come postseason if LF/Judson even occurs, it's all speculation right now
