I'm still waiting to hear from Lonny on why 55-9 proves that Lufkin is overated and is not playing to their potential and how lucky we were to escape with another victory.

I have said this before in another thread, but it bears repeating...

As silly as it sounds, I too believe Lufkin is not playing to its fullest potential. There are some chinks in the armor that need fixing. From the sounds of the game last night and Coach Outlaw's comments after the game, there was improvement in some of those areas last night.

The 2006 Lufkin Panthers potentially can be the best high school football team I have ever seen. This includes the 2003 North Shore Mustangs. This team potentially can be a HUGE monster. With 4 games to go in the regular season, I'm confident the Lufkin coaching staff sees the same things I do (I'm just a fan) and are addressing the issues.

This group of kids are special and they seem to be willing to put in the work necessary to make themselves better. Even they realize there are some things that need fixing.

This is going to be a fun ride this year!

I brought a relative who lives in galveston with me to the game. Kept talking all before the game how lufkin was overrated. I got a good smile as his mouth fell open on a couple of plays.
Dezs catch with two guys covering him where he just seemed to jump up over there heads and catch it with one hand, might have been out of bounds but man that was a good catch. Turners long run just looked amazing, in and out of every defender going full speed, mad the D look like they were standing still. Claybon was looking good to me, wasnt doing so many throw ups for dez to jump up and catch, He was throwing it right were he needed it, i swear i saw the ball curve once to get caught. and Jaime kicking it out the back of the endzone from the 20 was just great.
Might not have been a good match up to judge how good lufkin on, no offense to the cp guys ment first year and all that u guys have a good coach and not a bad team this year, but still it looked like a load of improvement (except for 2 bad snaps) over the way there were playing against longview.

A little off subject but that was my first trip down to moorehead, nice stadium, loved the short concession line, and seemed to be enough seating but just a couple of questions.
First do they usually use 5 or 6 police officers to park cars on the visitors side? Every one of them seemed to want to stop us and repeat the same thing, hug the bus line and pull in beside the other car. And second about whats allowed in the stadium... Ok no gum get it dont want in on the benches, no outside food and drink is standard, pocket knives and all that again is kinda a duh thing. But they made me throw away a peppermint and that just kinda made me go huh? I know thats its technically outside food and all, but im far from the only one who just sticks a pepperment in their pocket, were they going a little over board?
Dont let those questions make u think i didnt enjoy the stadium or be taken as insults, they were just things me and my party were talking about during the game and we were curious. And since ill be back there on the 26th for the woodlands game thought it would be nice to know.

What do you guys think of that Catch by DEZJ in the back of the End Zone. Kinda wish we were at home so we could have seen that on the jumbotron. I think the ref didnt know what to do. I mean that was awesome and how great was it for the Panther fans to give a standing O.

I just wanted to post about how impressed I was by College Park. For a first year varsity team they played very good disiplined football. It looks like they have the talent base to become a very good team in a short time. I would not be suprised if they hang a big L around the Woodlands within 3 years. Another good program in this district besides The Woodlands and Lufkin will make it even better in the long run. They only need a break away threat at RB to be in the very good team criteria. IMHO:) A few mistakes in their decision making on when to pitch the ball to trailing back or tucking it and running cost them on a few big plays. Also the mistique of playing the big bad Lufkin Panthers:rolleyes: made them make the mental mistakes. Get this year behind them ( I hope they get in playoffs ) and next year they may contend for the district crown!

I hope they go D1. I'd like to see them match up against teams like Judson, Trinity and of course NS. If they end up winning the D1 title, they will have a legit claim to being the best team in Texas the last 5 years.

I hope they go D1. I'd like to see them match up against teams like Judson, Trinity and of course NS. If they end up winning the D1 title, they will have a legit claim to being the best team in Texas the last 5 years.


You do know that the last 2 div1 champs have lost to div2 teams right? SLC is already the best team in Texas in the last 5 years without question. It is crazy to think otherwise.

I wasn't really disputing that. But correct me if I'm wrong. All their championships were in Div 2 right? I guess I would have wanted them to match up with 2003 NS or last year's ET. As long as there are 2 5A champs, there is always going to be that question mark. Maybe they should schedule these teams before district play. Don't quite know if they want to risk an L on their record before District Play though.

I brought a relative who lives in galveston with me to the game. Kept talking all before the game how lufkin was overrated. I got a good smile as his mouth fell open on a couple of plays.
Dezs catch with two guys covering him where he just seemed to jump up over there heads and catch it with one hand, might have been out of bounds but man that was a good catch. Turners long run just looked amazing, in and out of every defender going full speed, mad the D look like they were standing still. Claybon was looking good to me, wasnt doing so many throw ups for dez to jump up and catch, He was throwing it right were he needed it, i swear i saw the ball curve once to get caught. and Jaime kicking it out the back of the endzone from the 20 was just great.
Might not have been a good match up to judge how good lufkin on, no offense to the cp guys ment first year and all that u guys have a good coach and not a bad team this year, but still it looked like a load of improvement (except for 2 bad snaps) over the way there were playing against longview.

A little off subject but that was my first trip down to moorehead, nice stadium, loved the short concession line, and seemed to be enough seating but just a couple of questions.
First do they usually use 5 or 6 police officers to park cars on the visitors side? Every one of them seemed to want to stop us and repeat the same thing, hug the bus line and pull in beside the other car. And second about whats allowed in the stadium... Ok no gum get it dont want in on the benches, no outside food and drink is standard, pocket knives and all that again is kinda a duh thing. But they made me throw away a peppermint and that just kinda made me go huh? I know thats its technically outside food and all, but im far from the only one who just sticks a pepperment in their pocket, were they going a little over board?
Dont let those questions make u think i didnt enjoy the stadium or be taken as insults, they were just things me and my party were talking about during the game and we were curious. And since ill be back there on the 26th for the woodlands game thought it would be nice to know.

As far as the parking goes, it's no different than any other night. Even when TWHS and Conroe are the visitors, they are told where to park too. The home parking lot is all numbered and lined so I guess there's no need for it. The peppermint thing is a bit wierd though. I'm pretty sure I've gone in there a few times with peppermints in my pocket.

I think most experts on here are projecting that SLC will be in D2, and a rematch with Lufkin


I, for one Pack fan, certainly hope so. Our state championship will not be quite as sweet if we do not get to beat SLC on the way. ;)

SLC did not win it in 03 Katy did. I think there is no question on who was the best team that year and it was clearly the div1 champ in NS. SLC has been the best hands down in the last 2 years IMO. Nobody can touch them in the last 5 years overall. nobody!
