Only 2 Texas schools. Does not seem right to me. What about Longview, Lufkin and SV - All worthy of a place in the rankings. Longview vs Evangel Christian on September 16th will be interesting. If Longview wins this one and with Evangel Christian being ranked 18th. I think we will see more Texas schools enter the rankings as the season unfolds, with the out of state games already scheduled for this season - Tyler Lee vs #13. Colerain, Cincinnati.

Not to mention if Midland Lee beat Clovis West.

FYI, calpreps keeps track of several polls and rankes them according to the following criteria:

LEAST LOSSES
How many times per week each ranking's top 25 averaged losing

HEAD-TO-HEAD
Who fared well when rankings differed on which team in an upcoming matchup should be ranked higher

OUT IN FRONT
How many times each organization ranked teams before everyone else did

For 2004, this is how they ranked (lower is better):
calpreps 2.67
schoolsports 3.33
studentsports 3.33
tonybianco 3.67
prepnation 4
usatoday 4.67
ihigh 5.67

That poll is hogwash. No Lufkin. No Longview.

Thanks for posting it though.

They will never get it right man. Lview has won three years running and I think ECA has been ranked nationally wach time. I'm not sure why they are there every year. Especially when Texas teams who aren't ranked consistently beat them.

We all know it is only a poll, but it gives us all in Texas something to talk about. Let's hope the Texas schools do their talking on the field and win these out of state games. That is what is so great about sports, especially Texas Football, it gives us something to talk about while there are no games played. Polls may be meaningless, but they do provide for a forum for discussion.

Longview has won what the past 3 years? District?

Winning games doesn't get you into the National Top 25. That's also why Lufkin is left out. I'm not saynig it's fair, it's just reality.

Longview has beat ECA (18 on poll) the last 3 years.

USA Today's poll just seems to get worse year after year. Just two Texas teams and one from Ohio....but FOUR from PA? Including a team that Cleveland St. Ignatius (Ohio D1 top 3 pre-season) spanked last year?

What a joke.

Well it looks like Colerain will be bumped out of USA Today's Super 25.
