That is sad. That is why kids should not be left alone even with a teenage brother. At least one parent should be there to watch the kids just in case things like this happens.

I'm pretty sure she told the 17 year old to get the car

wow that's horrible. That 10 year old boy has to live the rest of his life knowing he killed his mom. AND the 17 year old is going to have to live with how irresponsible of a decision he made that ended up killing his mother and scarring his little bro for life.

Wow, thats terrible! A mother who don't want to get wet, wth?! and letting her risky son to drive? I am sure he had a license but 10 year old boy of course not.

That happen to me once when I was 6 in a golf cart. First, I got in the golf cart just sitting there and thought the key was not in it so I press the accelarater in the garage facing the dryer machine where my dad was there and my grandmother was on the other side I mean I kind of slammed the accelater hit him hard and saw him hurt. Then, I ran in the house into one of the bedroom beside the bed hiding and crying because I thought he would come up to me and scream at me but he didn't at all. So I learned a lesson not to drive in car without license or unless with somebody else with permit.

Just a story of mine but I know yall don't care about anything I type, just thought to share with yall of my experience.

That 17 year old should have known better than to let his 10 year old brother drive when the 10 year old doesn't know how.

I agree. Sad story, but you cant blame the mother for having them get the car. I guess she could have taught him to make better decisions however. I know at 17 I was driving all over the state by myself. I also watched my little sister and brother. Even if the 10 year old knew how to drive, you still should not let him.

He 's 17 the prefrontal lobes i.e. the cognitive decision making part of the brain is not fully wired in until 23 or thereabouts......then again as we have seen on this public forum sometimes not even then.

He cant get the car out of the rain for him mother at 17, because of his brain wires, but just one year later he can drive a tank and shoot at people in a war?

Wow that sucks, the 17 year old should have used better judgement, but damn that's an unfortunate incident.

That is sad. It's probably worst for the 17-year old.

The Chronicle this morning said the kid was 12...not that it makes much difference. I hate to imagine what this kid is going through.
