Thank God SLC was ranked ahead of Lufkin on the Prep Poll or we would have another string of posts trying to change Prep Nation's vote.:D

Does anyone seriously think that a team from Arizona or Nevada could beat any of the top 10 or even top 20 from Texas?

How did they miss Trinity?
That's what I was wondering. But then again, these polls are terrible anyway. And we all know that no team from Arizona could beat a good TX team.

Their backers do not go up on various boards complaining about not being ranked #1 - so it may be that there is less visibility.
For them - lurking in the background - and then stomping in the playoffs would be a wonderful message to all.
Speaking with actions is much more meaningful than acting through speech.
For what it's worth, I'm going to add my 2 cents . . . I do believe SLC should be ranked higher than LP until proven different . . . Although I have not seen SLC play, I have seen LP, unfortunately first hand, and I believe that LP should be at least in the Top 5 nationally. I've seen Oaks Christian on national television and I was not nearly as impressed with them as I am with LP skills positions, especially at the receiver position. I do think that it would be a shootout, but I believe that OC's defensive backs would be in a world of trouble trying to match up with LP's speed. I’d give OC a slight edge at the QB and RB position but LP the advantage everywhere else. That's my take, not trying to pick a fight . . .

That's kinda how I feel. I still think SLC is a little bit better than LP, but not by much. Oaks Christian wasn't nearly as good as I thought they should be, and I'd take LP or SLC over them any day. There's no way Oaks could hold Dez Bryant, that guy's amazing.

Once again, we should not listen to these national rankings. We all know that the only polls that even matter are in-state polls. 3-4 of the top 5 teams in the nation should be Texas teams.
Another point, please do not put much stock in their (SLC and LP's) common opponent (Evangel) and score . . . Been there, done that, and if you can go into ECA's hostile environment (LA rules and those biased officials) and believe me it is hostile, and come out with a victory, as LP did, you've achieved a major accomplishment.

That's exactly what I pointed out somewhere on that neverending Southlake should be #1 thread. Evangel was an exremely tough place to play. First of all, there weren't the usual Lufkin fans there. Second, the refs were EXTREMELY biased. That was just an overall really tough place to play. The Panthers were not used to playing in that kind of environment, especially the kind where only about 4500 people are there at the most.
I was stunned in more ways than one when we (LV) went there to play for the first and only time... I swear - their visitor’s side is about the size of a typical Texas 2A HS stadium. Man (!!!), you talking about home field advantage....

Pack, wow only 4500 fans attended your Evangel game......What do you estimate the split between LP fans & EC fans to have been??

so is speaking with actions and words not equally impressive? btw, what's up with the schizoid mustangs? they are the most either end of the scale team of the district.

Trinity should easily be ahead of Cedar Hill. Look at the teams played, stats, etc. They ought to be around 5th or 6th easily in the rankings.

Speaking with words can be impressive - Shakespear comes to mind :)
Speaking with actions, on the field of play, is meaningful in the only poll that counts :D
As far as GVine Mustangs - well - I would say there is a lack of focus and probably a bit of wannabe envy with SLC so close, but yet so far, in terms of capability and preparation
...there is always next year

This was just a guess. I do not know how many people Rodney Duron stadium seats. We had about the same number of Lufkin fans as Evangel fans. There may have been a few more Evangel fans. They had many on the sidelines and what not.

I loved the restroom facilities Joe ( can you say porta-potty).
Actually I think the ECA people were nice and good hosts, but, man, that stadium would, as you say, be a step down for a 3A team.

as you may have already ascertained, it ain't bragging if you can back it up. i'm guessing that quote has a picture of all us over-inflated(rightfully so) slc fans and a running 67-1 under it in the unabashed dictionary.

Not a consession - just examining the current situation.
While I am sure the Stangs will be up for the game - only their determination and preparation will decide how far they go in making an interesting meeting.

I do note that most of the claims and counter-claims on this (and all the other boards) are not done by the players and coaches but rather by parents, alumni, students (including those pesky band kids:p ) and well wishers. We should all recognize that the bragging rights are paid for by those players and coaches - and they have, for the most part, been trained to take a more humble path. :o

I don't know about that, Cedar Hill has beaten everyone they have played and are a great team.
I do agree that Trinity is worthy of whatever rank is given since the rank is the opinion of those who put out the rankings. If it is precieved that a particular district or opponents are much better then and a good team has a loss or two they might still be worthy of a high rank.
I also notice that we all consider the past when ranking a team and try to account for returning players and graduating players to determine a initial ranking:
Trinity- They graduated the entire backfield.... can't be as good. (but they are)
Lufkin- Returning so many from great team. .... they are great
Plano- Won a lot last year, rank them high this year.. not as good
Cedar Hill- Seems they are a newcomer , no winning tradition, need to learn how to win the big one.. Could be the best!
Coppell- Seems they are a newcomer , no winning tradition, need to learn how to win the big one, could be the best.
I notice that some of the nationally ranked teams have 38 game winning streaks, what, Trinity has only played 5 game so far this year! Is the ranking supposed to be several years? There is no doubt that Southlake has everyone beat.
The only way to determine a champ is to have a playoff system. Only that our playoff system is flawed. You have two champions and all those teams that lost in the division 2 can claim that they could beat the winner of divison 1, I suspect that it will happen again.
There is no doubt that there are some teams this year that are even better than they were last year, ie, Lufkin, Southlake... and maybe Trinity. ( I am not intending to leave anyone out, I know there are more) I just wish that when the playoffs start that one division has all top 10 team in it. I also wish for Trinity to be counted in that group. Win or lose, I want to play the best!
My #1 is Southlake, until they are beaten! Lufkin is #2 until they are beaten. In the nation and Texas!
Haka!
