Westlake's got the big target on their back once more.

The Stateman's coverage of High School Football is pathetic. It shows by how they include 5A through 2A schools all in the same poll.

Yes! Of course, this site didn't rank Westlake at all and ranked Copperas Cove #8, Leander #20, Pflugerville #21, and McNeil #23. In the Statesmand, Westlake was ranked #1, Pflugerville #2, Leander #4, Hays #5, Cove #10, and McNeil #12. Interesting that the sports writers that cover this part of the country see things so differently from the wizards on this cite who focus on the Houston and metroplex areas.

That being said, none of these polls mean anything. And our game at Leander is going to be very difficult. We lost at the very end of the game in the Alamodome last year after leading most of the game. The home field advantage could make a difference. We'll start seeing this week who is the better judge of Central Texas football. (And for what it's worth, there are at least some of the local sports writers who really don't like us because we win too much!).

the statesmen has always had a hatred for 13-5a and a love fest for westlake. Enough said. Westlake could very well be the best team but read some of the stuff in their preview. One big circle jerk about westlake.

That's what I mean. Don't the writers there take any pride in what they print? I guess all they worry about is selling papers and UT Football.

i would pay 500.00 to see cove play liberty hill.they are so arrogant that they would bet on LH.

Its because they just dont really know anything about 13-5a, they just put them in the ranking. And if you read some of their stuff you will see the love fest i'm talking about for westlake. Best mascot in the austin area goes to westlake, 2nd best helment goes to westlake, i mean come on....

Yeah, because Lions, Tigers, and Eagles are all so original. And they are not even on the list for top helmets.

Anyway, we'll see come Friday.

Smithson Valley is just as close to Austin as Seguin is. I dont get that either.
