Scott S - I have been waiting for this thread, for what is now your weekly tradition. I have posted a reply in a similar vein on another thread. The rest of the district games will be a joke, Colleyville was supposed to the big threat and the rest of SLC's district 5 opponents will end up being lambs to the slaughter; as they meekly cave in without offering any real threat to the predictable outcome of the game. SLC blows away all the other district teams by 50+ points; Haltom included. Score : SLC 50+ points vs Haltom 14 points or less; they will probably score when SLC has the third string playing in the forth quarter.

Dear ScottS - Little Giants was a movie where you can make the outcome anything you wish. In Friday Night Lights the movie, Permian reached the State Championship Game, where as in real life they only reached the semis. This is real life and in real life, SLC slaughters all district opponents.

Could be an interesting matchup. Haltom's new head coach is Clayton George who was Carroll's former offensive coordinator under Coach Dodge. If anybody knows what to expect from the Carroll offense, it would be Coach George.
I'm sure Carroll will still win by a comfortable margin, but it could be a more interesting matchup that most would think.

Scott S, I've gotta agree with the toonman on Dragon prediction threads, pretty boring stuff from now until the PO's......
What might be more interesting would be prediction threads for the other 5-5A games each week since those games will determine whether we end up D1 or D2.

Actually, Richland beat Haltom by one touchdown. That is not what I call a "sound" beating. Besides, in an intense rivalry like Haltom-Richland, anything can happen. You guys know that. Am I saying Haltom will beat SLC? No - but you can't judge them based on their last game.

If carroll was going to lose this year i would want it to be against Haltom. But we all know that will not happen! This game will be a blow out. I was playing to come to the game, but for some reason we have a baseball scrimmage set for 18 innings on friday and i wont be able to make it back. Which is probably good b/c i would have a tough time deciding what sideline to stand on.

That should be easy for you. The Dragons all like and respect Clayton alot, so you see him before the game, wish him the best of luck and then join us on the Carroll sideline. But as you will not be there, I will do it for you.

the haltom coach is dodge's first true crony, and they love each other like brothers. there will be a short leash on the offense, imo. i'd be surprised of a 40+ blowout. it'll look like a funhouse mirror with haltom being an underfed clone of the dragons. 48-14. all of the buffs points in the 4th.

I'll predict a halftime score of 45-0 SLC.
Then they try not to score more than twice in the second half
and probably Haltom manages a TD against SLC's second/third teamers.
So 59-7. SLC.

Haltom, doesn't have a chance. They are just another team with a decent scoring offense against most teams and no defense, like Rockwall or CHHS. This game could easily be 63-7 or more. Just depends on how bad Dodge wants to beat one of his old buddy coaches..

too bad you can't watch the freshmen and jv green teams, esp. the cupboard is full, and may be getting better with or without dodge. one thing is for sure, whoever coaches the years after riley grads will have no problem getting athletes on the field. the 08 and 09, esp, classes are loaded. several sophs will start next year, so by the time they are srs, will have lots of experience, and are already very very good.

i have to agree with you. i don't expect a blow out because dodge will be quick to substitute. JV green beat Haltom JV 27-7 and black won 31-9 i believe. could have been worse but substitutions came in early. Dragons win 49-14.

The haltom team we will see tonight is not the same team SLC has faced in the past. They are well excuting team. The spread offense looks like a "mini-me" version of what dodge runs. Of course, that's due to the mini-me coach - clayton george. His return back to Tarrant county will not go unnoticed. In just a few short months, he has created a team out of chaos. Mark my words...it won't be a blowout. SLC will prevail, but not like they have done in the past. And don't get me started about what will happen is lil' Dodge gets injured.....

Yes - it is worse that the past. Haltom lost to Richland whom Colleyville put 70 points on. What I think will happen, is SLC will have the game won towards the end of second quarter with 30 to 40 points on the board. Dodge will keep the starters until after the first series of the third quarter. SLC may not score as often in the second half, but I am sure the back-ups, second and third string will want to score if they have the opportunity. Coach Dodge’s play calling may be a bit more conservative, not wanting to score heavily on his friend. I am sorry to say that this going to be a slaughter, even if the score does not reflect the complete dominance of the Dragons.

The game really was a waste for SLC. No challenge on either side of the line. More importantly - it did not serve to improve the players as they did not see anything new or different.
the lack of talent in 5-5A, SLC excepted, will mean that SLC will need to toughen quickly when the playoffs get rolling. They have shown that ability in the past, so they will probably be able to do so again - but it does put pressure on preparation.

You make a very valid point, but in the first half the Offense got plenty of plays, in the third quarter the Defense got plenty of plays and the in forth quarter the back-ups got plenty of plays. I think this can work in SLCs favor. Reduction of niggling injuries to the starters, which can carry over into the play-offs. Valuable playing time for the back-ups. But I agree SLC do need to be tested for more than one quarter and I do not see that happening in the regular season.

Northwest will be a much better test than Haltom, but not as good as Colleyville and you saw what happened to CV in Dragon Stadium. It's also Homecoming and the Dragons will be sky high.
