I was just wondering how many schools have both a JV and sophmore (JV B Team)? I just noticed that SA clark has both. The JV is playing at O'Connor and the sophmore team is at NB Canyon today.

Smithson Valley has a JV Blue (will probably be on varsity the next year) and White ( where they place the lackies and riff-raff like myself when they dont want to deal with you anymore) as well as a freshman squad.

They mustve seen somethin special in your boy then because back when I played if you were on white as a soph. you expected to be on JV again the next year, then varisty as a senior. And yeah i was gonna ask if freshman had more than one and then i remembered seeing a schedule of their games and it said A, B, and C

:D Thank you for that Crank-It. We're pretty proud of him and glad he stuck it out! Actually they took 3 or 4 from the white team and put them on varsity as juniors this year. This has always seemed to be a pretty stacked class athletically, so that may be why. We are really enjoying all the traditions and such....it's very fun....this is a pretty "tight" group:)

Summit has a JV Black (1st Team) and JV Blue (2nd Team). There are a lot of sophomores on JV Black - I suppose there are juniors on Blue team - I never really paid any attention.

Not all schools have two JV's, so sometimes they combine to play someone, like Mansfield tonight.

Two freshman teams. Burleson has four freshman teams!

Dang! Holmes (same ISD as Clark) can barely field both a varsity and JV team!

After grades, there are probably only 20 players on JV, and 34 or so on varsity.

Varsity
JV
Freshman A
Freshman B

Freshman B team normally only plays until grades come out, then everyone's on A team! :D

Copperas Cove has Varsity, JV Gold, JV Blue, Freshman Gold, Freshman Blue, and Freshman White.

I think the reasoning behind 3 Freshman teams is to get the boys more time to actually play. That way, talent not always seen in practice can be noticed, as well as leadership qualities. I do know they have to look for games for the 3 Frosh teams, but always seem to come up with them. Of course most of the Freshmen end up on JV Blue (heavy on Sophomores), but some move up to Varsity and completely bypass the JV Gold team.

Katy has

Fish Red/White
Sophomore
JV
Varsity

When i was there (mid 90's), Fish Red was 1st and 3rd string freshmen and White was 2nd and 4th string.

Sophomore team was all sophomores, and JV was juniors not on varsity and a few sophomores. Not all sophomores on JV were "too good" for the sophomore team, as a matter of fact, Katy's sophomore team usually fields the more talented sophs.

All Cy-Fair ISD Schools have 2 freshman ( some have 3 every now and then ) a sophmore team, and a JV Team

Leander has a JV Blue and Red, Red is all soph. WE also field freshman red and blue, red=a blue=b. WE fielded a third freshman team (white) for the Judson game because they were able to do the same but most schools we play don't do this so the white plays with the blue.

TWHS has:

Varsity
JV - Green
JV - Red
JV - White
Fresh - Green
Fresh - Red
Fresh - White

I don't know how others do it but TWHS doesn't cut anybody.

Last year there were several 10th grade teams and 1 JV team. Because of the split with College Park this is the last year there is a huge SR class. I guess they made the change because of that. They need a larger pool to pull from to fill the varsity roster from now on.

Lewisville has:
Varsity
JV Maroon (JV A Team, the better sophmores and juniors, plays the JV teams of schools with only one JV.)
JV White (JV B Team, the lower sophmores, when there's only one JV, they go play a district game or take the week off.)
Freshman A
Freshman B
Freshman C

I was on Freshman A Team, playing backup O-Line/D-Line. I asked to be moved down to B Team, and I start there at Center.

We had 150 kids come out for Freshman Football this year. We now have 127, some quit, some failed, some were too undisciplined. No one was actually cut though.

Hang in there Farmer....it's better to get contant playing time on B than to "stand" and watch the game on A team! And, as you stated.....especially over the next couple of years....some quit, some fail and some are undisciplined (the coaches know who they are)! You'll get there.....you'll be playing as a Jr. on Varsity while those undisciplined Seniors are watching you! ;)

I agree, it is much better to get playing time on a lower team then it is to stand. One of my friends played on the JV B team his junior year, then worked hard in the off season and ended up playing a considerable amount in our Semifinal run last year (I think he even ended up starting). Just keep working hard, you never know when your time will come to get bumped up.

Burleson just has 3 freshman teams, I don't know where you heard 4 from.

There is six teams in all - varsity, JV Gray (A team), JV Black (B team), and freshman A,B, and C teams.
