You should read the unedited stuff if you dig down a little. It's par for the course that the guy who fights exploitation of children by day is the person we should avoid at night.

Funny quote from the upcoming movie "Man of the Year" with Robin Williams:
"Politicians are like diapers. They should be changed often, and for the same reason.":D
I love that one. And RW. He cracks me up.

WHAT THE HELL?!!!!!!!

Mark Foley...you disgusting disgrace. He stands up for family values...and Ted Kennedy has been sober for 30 years.

The lawmaker and lawbreaker--all the same person. What's wrong with this picture? It's pretty bad when an honest politician is becoming more so of an oxymoron. An honest politician is the anomaly in the U.S. Congress.

We need to implement term limits. It's always incumbents in safe districts (damn gerrymandering) that seem to create the scandals.

On night line they reported there might be reports that some of the pages told the house republican leadership over a year ago and nothing was done. Swept it under rug?.

Only 7 replies so far? I'd be curious how many people would have jumped on this thread had it been a democrat who was the subject. Before anyone jumps to any conclusion, I support neither party. I look at the individual and vote accordingly. What is not disputable is that this individual is one disgusting piece of s**t

I'll comment here since I noticed it in this thread. Madison might not even get to the Quarterfinals this year. They might get knocked out in Week 11.

Basically from the news account congressman Foley Republican out of Florida who pushed and sits co-chair of the and Exploited Children's Caucus and a prominent backer of legislation to crack down on online predators and criminalize child pornography on the Internet was sending e-mails of a sexual nature to 16 yr old male congressional pages. When confronted about it by the media, he decided it was time for him to quit. Now there are reports that the pages have reported harassment of Foley to the house Republican leadership I believe as long as five years ago and nothing was done. It seems as the story goes on more information is coming out.

I didnt see the "Of Sexual Nature" part...I may be getting old, But is "how are you?, What do you want for your B-day? and send me a pic" considered sexual? Bear with me...I'm coming in on the tail end of this.

Yeah, I read excerpts of his instant message chats. I would have to see the timeline, but just maybe he was fighting for the exploitation stuff this year because he knew what he was like in the past. As far as I know, this stuff was in the past and we don't know what he's done this year. What he did was wrong, but just maybe he's been trying to overcome the past in 2006.

The dude's attorney Will B. Fleecinu had this to say today:

As Congress continued to feel the fallout from Rep. Mark Foley's resignation over a scandal with male pages, Foley's lawyer announced Tuesday that the Florida Republican had been molested by a clergyman as a teenager and that he was under the influence of alcohol when he sent lurid messages to congressional pages.

Poor guy - it wasn't his fault - it was the Catholics fault and Budweiser - and all the left wing radicals.

Foley is not the first perverted politician to get caught and he won't be the last. When is our justice system going to realize that pedophilia is like alcoholism. They can't be cured. The craving is for a lifetime. The individual has to have the mental and physical strength to fight the cravings everyday until the cravings are buried deep within them. Like a recovering alcohalic who can't be exposed to alcohol, a pedophile can't be exposed to children which is nearly impossible unless they are contained in a place where they have no access to children. Yet our justice system goes light on these mentally diseased people and they are released back into society after they serve their jail time and the circle continues. and :(

The biggest question so far is...how was the media able to sit on it so that they could trot iit out as an October surprise for the elections...whats coming out is that they, the media knew about the specifics of the e-mails / IM's and sat on it so they could time it perfectly for their Demo buds..thats the story..slimeball Foley is history as he should be...

You know what the sad part is...

There's a good chance that the Democrats STILL can't win the House and Senate.

If this was a decent Democratic party, the Republicans would be wiped out! That's how sad the Democratic leadership is.

If the alcohol made him do it, does that mean when he was sending those IM's from the House floor he is was drunk? Voting drunk?
