Is Monty as tough as their record indicates or are they overrated? Three of their four wins have come at the hands of district 3-5A and the other over an El Paso team. MOJO on the other hand has swept 2-5A with their lone loss(40-14) coming at the hands of Trinity. Who wins this one and why?

it will be a good test for both teams. mojo has a bunch of kids who hardly remember the last po win, but all of whom can name the myriad heros from the photos on the wall of fame. they are hungry but as of yet untested and not yet confident in themselves. monty has been variously successful and has a tested and veteran coaching staff. i look for a tough game and a monty victory by a td or less.

Successful over whom?
they played us to a standstill in 03, and have been in the po's every year that mojo wasn't i believe. point taken about the quality of their vanquished. so far it has been mostly 3-5a. gotcha.

If they beat you guys this week, 3-5A should just send the "Bell" to Lubbock......:D

Played Carroll to a standstill, and lost. Played other great games in the playoffs, and lost. A while back I started a thread about moral victories. Monterey is the Moral Victory State Champ almost every year. People speak as though Monterey has several state trophies and another handful of semifinal appearances or something. The fact is, most years they wouldn't make the playoffs if they were in 3-5a.

I don't know why its so hard to respect Monterey? The fact that Monty has beaten Abilene High, Midland Lee and Midland High so far means they are playing pretty well. You can say 3-5A is having a down year but I wouldn't be beating my chest about beating Lubbock High, Amarillo and Tascossa. I still think the 3-5A teams that lost to Monterey would beat the three that Permian beat. JMO

I think 3-5A will be a fight to the end. I don't think anyone will concede the bell before district even starts.;)

I'm gonna go with Monterey on this one. I just think they have been the more impressive team this year so far.

I bet you do. Last years' Eagles would have won some of those games you've played this year.

What Monty did in '03 has very little (although some) to do w/ what's going to happen tom. night ('06). Dist. 3-5A's perrenial leaders aren't very strong this yr. That's the pt. I was making.

Yes, Monty could be the Team of the Century for all I know about the '06 Monty (I don't know much about Monty, admittedly--but Monty doesn't know much about Monty either if you just base it on whom they've beaten so far). We may not be any good, either, based just on whom we've beaten so far.

Just like some others that have posted here, I'm not ready to crown Monty King of West Texas Fb just yet (not that that would mean much right now).
