Mythical 5A Championship -- Fast Fwd to Regional Finals

Region I: Southlake Carroll vs. Euless Trinity
Region II: Lufkin vs. Spring Westfield
Region III: North Shore vs. Katy
Region IV: Smithson Valley vs. Austin Westlake

Too bad we can't have what we want -- a unified 5A champion.

Those four games would all be worthy of national television contracts. UIL, please wake me from this silly two-division nightmare.

Those are some awesome matchups - I would love to see Katy and NS play but they won't be in the same division more than likely:(

Of course, more than that, I would like to see Cy Falls in there somewhere - we'll see what happens:D

Its too bad we're going in the opposite direction of this happening instead of working back to it. The inclusion of four teams per district in the playoffs basically assures us that there won't be any unified state playoffs for a long long time, if ever. The UIL took the "make as most people happy as possible" route instead of showcasing what the best of Texas high school football has to offer. I'm not saying that there isn't logic behind their strategy, but it's just a shame we probably will never see a playoffs like this again.

We probably won't see ANY of those four matches of the best from each Region. It's a damn shame that our leadership is in so many ways choosing to reward mediocrity for many rather than excellence for the few.

3 out of those 4 I would definitely want to see. I know that SV would blow out Westlake.
