how many points (35) they put up on Madison (averaging 4 points against per game before tonight). It's going to be an interesting year in the 26-5.

Hey, 2 posts and 2 new threads started. Welcome to the board.:D

I noticed, as by all my statements about how much we did not know about 265. Other than having many great teams, they now have a lot of great teams. All but 1-2 stand a chance at anything.

I was suprised to see Lee hold their own with Madison. ALbeit, i didn't see them personally.....it seemed that they did.

I'm sure Madison might've added a few unnecessary scores in the end, though.

As an expert, not in attendenence, can you explain the UNNECESSARY SCORING by Madison...or are you a parrot...echoing whatever you hear (or read)...

Get your panties out of a wad. I took it as, uneccesary... as in not needed for victory. Scoring when the game is in hand.....

Madison--score unnecessary points--at the end?!! Surely, you jest. Must have a player who was trying for a record.

What year did Madison run up the score on Judson?

Anyone know what the year was and what the final score was?

i'm not going to coment on the past seasons but last night was far from running it up.

Madison had the ball three times in the 4th quarter and ran a total of 4 plays. The first play they ran in the 4th quarter was a QB draw play that Devin Myler took 67 yards for a score. The second play Madison ran in the 4th quarter was a strait hand off to Devin Thomas that went for 53 yards for the touchdown. The other two plays lost yards with the 3rd team QB and back up running back in the game as time ran out.

Both Devin's had a hard time NOT scoring when they both were untouched. If no one is going to put a hand on you it's hard NOT to score.

Football: Thomas carries Madison in rushing battle with Lee

Express-News Staff Writer
In a game that featured two of the top running backs in the area — Madison's Devin Thomas and Lee's Travis Lewis — it appeared safe to assume that the teams' showdown on Friday night would be highlighted by long drives and clock control.

So much for assumptions.

In a game that featured 69 second-half points, second-ranked Madison defeated Lee 56-34 in a ground-based shootout before 4,157 fans at Comalander Stadium. The anticipated battle of running backs also occurred, as Thomas carried 21 times for 244 yards and four touchdowns while Lewis gained 153 yards on 30 carries with a TD.
The teams combined for 49 first downs and 853 yards of offense, including 757 on the ground.
"It was a weird game," Madison coach Jim Streety said. "So much for defensive second-half adjustments."
With Thomas in the backfield, who needs defensive adjustments?
After totaling 161 rushing yards in the first half, Thomas rushed for 83 more in the second with three TD runs. Two of those scores came in the third quarter, when Madison (4-0, 2-0 in District 26-5A) scored 28 points.
Not that Thomas was alone in his output.
Mavericks quarterback Devin Myler was 0 of 3 passing but managed to rush for 128 yards and three TDs on only six carries. Josh Miles, meanwhile, carried two times for 86 yards and returned the opening kickoff of the second half 85 yards for a TD.
"I expected a close game," Thomas said, "something like 30-20."
For two quarters, the game was close — and dominated by Madison's opportunistic defense.
Lee opened the game on offense and ran just six plays before being forced to punt. However, Madison defensive back Rodney Green blocked the Volunteers' punt, and the Mavericks opened their first offensive series at the Lee 24.
They needed just three plays to seize an early advantage, as Thomas turned the right corner and scored easily from 8 yards out.
Trailing 7-6 in the second, the Mavericks' defense once again provided a big play by recovering a Lee fumble. Another brief scoring drive followed, as the Mavericks marched 47 yards on just four plays, capped off by a 25-yard TD run by Myler.
Lee (2-2, 0-2 26-5A) threatened again, and reached the Mavericks' 2 with just 12 seconds remaining in the half. But Andrew Green intercepted a pass in the end zone.

 Whatever those half-time adjustments were...don't make them next week or it'll look like last years playoff game...

Nov 1, 2003 at Comalander Stadium:

Madison 62
Judson 21

Streety let Gary Green keep scoring so he could get 44 points and tie Jerrell Wilkerson's city record. Besides the tactics of Madison, I must say it's Judson's fault for not stopping him.

Westfield wasn't scoring in the 4th quarter like Madison, though. Webster Patrick had over 300 yards on Judson including a bunch of long TD's. Madison scored 3 TD's in the 4th to break open a 41-21 game. Don't forget about that fake FG they ran to get one of the TD's in the 4th.

I remember that night. Judson's side was almost empty and every time Green got the ball some of the Judson fans cheered for him simply they just didn't care about the game because it was a blowout.

I still can't believe that WORKED....:p

Maybe Streety knew if fate at that game...
We still have a reason to talk about him...

But look at it this way, we beat them when it really counted and that was in the playoffs after they knocked us out.
