Article from KLTV 7 News:

An East Texas 14-year-old has died after football practice at his school.

Kevin Wallace of Nacogdoches was running wind sprints when he collapsed. Attempts at CPR couldn't revive him.

Autopsy results now show he died of a heart arrythmia, possibly aggravated by exercise. His grandmother says Kevin was a dedicated athlete and did his best on the field.

Grandmother Linda Wallace: "Kevin was a fighter up to the end, to live, but she wants everyone to know he fought real hard."

Doctors say they're sure the summer heat did not contribute to Kevin's death, despite the heat index above 100 degrees Thursday afternoon. Kevin had no apparent history of heart problems.

I will keep his family in prayer and I hope they receive comfort and peace during this time of tragedy.

Really a sad deal. Articles and testimonies are coming in that Kevin was just a really great kid - only 14. The paper today confirmed the cause of death is heart arythmia, not heat related. A parent administered CPR on the spot until the EM arrived - upwards of 8 specialists worked on Kevin at the hospital until he passed late Thurs. night.
